Reviving this thread. I found the game on Steam, re-released https://store.steampowered.com/app/750130/The_Sinking_City/
However, reviews say that it is an old version of the game (which wasn't released this year). This version has no DLC, achievements or cloud saves and Frogwares themselves don't recommend it's purchase. https://twitter.com/Frogwares/status/1365385278140133378
It is currently getting review-bombed.

I'll wait for the final release here on GOG. I do hope that Frogwares will prevail in securing their own IP rights for developed games. However this whole situation between them and Nacon looks ridiculous, how is that the court would allow Nacon to publish the game if they have not paid royalties to Frogwares? Either we have an extremely corrupt court system in France or there is something more to the story Frogwares told us already.

And publishing the old version of a game is nothing but a cash grab, why couldn't Nacon resolve the issue with devs once and for all? Anyway I'm looking forward for a full story of what exactly happened between two parties.

Good example of why cooperating with a publisher is almost always a poison chalice for devs.
I refunded my copy. Then bought a DRM free version from their offical site.
disgusting act of the publisher.
This is the third time Frogwares is involved in litigations, Since its first game against an intermedate who was selling Sherock Holmes Mystery of the Mummy. For not paying royalties.

Later against Focus Interactive for disputes about who was the publisher, etc

And Later/Now against BigBen Interactive/Nacon for not paying Royalties.

Apparently nobody wants to pay Royalties to Frogwares.

Obviously I have no idea about the legal intrincacies or details involved. Just the Court itself, I guess.
The problem with that kind of situations is that they alienate and create a lot of unstability in the availability/retire of the games once a year.

Be careful because I remember that the version on their official website wasn't really DRM-free.

I've joked about this before, but obviously neither does Frogwares legal department ;)

After happening MULTIPLE times, you'd think they'd fire the pot-smoking brother in law of the CEO mail order law degree idiot who keeps signing shit when he obviously has NO CLUE what it entails.

It's a ridiculous level of incompetence that's gotten their games pulled multiple times from multiple stores, over sour grapes when they didn't understand what they entered into with a publishing agreement.

I'd almost consider never buying a game from them, but man do I want to play Sinking City LOL - every time it seems like it's rounding a corner showing up here, something else seems to come up :(

Who knows when or if that can happen with this legal battle going on, or if it does whether it will be the complete game or the botched one on Steam. I highly recommend the Gamesplanet version, which is completely DRM free and includes the DLC and such. Great game too.

It's a great mix of their Sherlock Holmes formula along with Resident Evil style combat, in a wonderfully atmospheric setting. As long as you're down for that combo, I can't imagine not enjoying it a good bit.
The legal battle seems like a real shit-show for those involved. Hopefully Frogware will win back the publishing rights and put the game here. With my backlog I wouldn't have time to play it for a couple of years from now anyways.
I don't know if anyone saw this but... here is an interesting video from Frogwares, regarding this game.
Nacon is a really a shi*** company : from awful accessories (when the company was called Bigben..) to this.
Shame on you, Nacon !

I have heard about shitty publishers before from indie such as Nicalis to larger like EA but this one might just take the cake !

I hope Frogwares can find a way to fuck them up assuming this proven to be entirely accurate which i hope.

A non video article is also available

The Steam version is now apparently a cracked version of an official Gamesplanet release.
