You think? Would it be justified if anyone else had posted the exact same thing, informing people about an update to a game that happens to concern a topic dtgreene likes to bring up?

I think it would not be justified to "go-all-out" if it was another user, one without history of starting controversial topics / arguments, posting this same information.

It is the willful ignoring of most of our forum displease to discuss these topics, that dtgreene SHOULD know by now, that justifies his/her downvoting in this one thread and individual posts.

If not justifed, it explains it nonetheless quite understandably.

On topic; I do not play the Sims 4; only played some mobile phone version 5 years ago and it was very limited; I guess such changes might be fun for some minutes to mess around in the game if I ever try it someday; I think it is not surprising from EA to side with political moves by their record and it's okay, a good thing even to give the official option for who it may be an issue, of importance in such a sandbox game.

Does that not make you think that downrating this thread solely based on the user who created it is unjustified?

Logically, it does not. If one wouldn't downrate someone else for posting this, one shouldn't downvote a specific individual for posting it.

Dragging certain political issues into other threads, thus derailing them, may be a just reason for downrating. At the same time, though, one would have to downrate all derailing posts and as a result surely die of exhaustion, considering.

In an ideal word kind sir... But we are not objective beings without the effort, but subjectives with memories of who do what... That can't be just ignored. especially on a gaming forums usually browsed for relaxing times?
Anyway... I read you and agree with you on the principle to target posts instead of users when it comes to "punishing", downrepping.

I saw another topic, flagrantly discussing the topic, get "high rated"; that suggests that people *are* interested in discussing the topic. (The topic was about bathroom use, the original post was *very* transphobic, and the topic wasn't about games at all.)

Could someone explain why *this* topic, which is about a game, and where the original post mainly states facts, has been "low rated" at times, when the other post I mentioned was consistently "high rated"?

Also, from votes, I can't conclude that it is this one topic because other posts of mine that have nothing to do with this topic have been "low rated".

I am really sorry but as someone said you have been branded, labelled "activist" in here because of, your activism in here... This most likely explains that, low voting you are getting... I can not find another reason.

From what I can read; this user is also getting a bad rep for himself lately for also bringing controversial topics / arguments too often, in another thread he created about diverse games. Hmm... This event could serve as valid evidence you are not personally targetted and marginalized really for your own position on those issues, but indeed as I suspect it is, hopefully may be "just" because there seems to be that distaste for such topics coming up too often in our community forums, by the same persons at the OP... Relax and please forgive my poor English. <_<

Kleetus pretty much summed it up. Unfortunately there are people here that will downvote anything you post because they're pissed off with you. I personally think you did exactly the right thing by posting a new thread about this instead of derailing another thread. But once you're on the radar, you're gonna get carpet bombed. It's unfair, unfortunate, and uncalled-for. But that's the state of things here now.
