It seems like the Dune franchise will be resurrected through a movie.

Does this mean there's a chance to bring the games here? Feel free to ask Brian Herbert here.
Would anyone care for oregon/amazon/yukon trail? I would so love to play those again . . . . Where (is/on earth/in time) is Carmen Sandiago, mummy maze (popcap) . . . . .

I don't do this anymore, but you can research yourself. :) A good starting point is Mobygames or Wikipedia or Google in general - who developed it, who published it, the "top people" who worked on the game, etc. See what contact info you can find for them.

"In meaningful negotiations on a very important part of the DUNE universe. Can't say more now, but it's going to be great news for Dune fans."

I wonder if Nightdive or GOG finally got through to them. :0

So for the longest time I thought Rob Elam had the publishing rights to OMF2097, but according to a recent contact with him (via MindWalker Games, as he released Sentinels on Steam via E.A.), Epic Games still has the publishing rights actually and they are the people to contact.

SCPM: I like the look of that game, I'll try the demo next time I have access to a Windows PC.

Chili Con Valley, according to their site, also operated under the name C2V (Computers, Communications, and Visions). There are some credits for another C2V game, Krypton Egg, on Mobygames:
http://www.mobygames.com/game/krypton-egg
and using C2V's info, I found these names:
Renaud Dumeur
Michel Delval
Jean-Alain Le Borgne
http://www.openresource.com/orgs/CS/P/C2V.shtml

I'll dig around for some better contact info. Judging by archived messages they posted, they all ought to speak English just about fluently.
avatar
tfishell: Brilliant as always. ;) Thanks. I did grab a demo of Krypton Egg and actually wrote down some of those names from the credits, but your info on C2V's other people was more helpful.

Renuad Dumeur checks out for C2V - fr.linkedin.com/pub/renaud-dumeur/0/675/971 - so I think I'll start there. He apparently was co-founder, so maybe he knows who has the rights, or even has some of them himself!

IAmSinistar: Good find. I haven't found any further info yet, but there may be a clue in the game credits. This company also created Vyruz: Destruction of the Untel Empire, which seems to have been more popular, so there could be further leads to pursue there too.
avatar
tfishell: Yes, I actually saw that on YouTube, and it looked like a darn good game, too. I'll ask about both Valkyrie and Vyruz in contacting people. (I was actually going to use LinkedIn, too, if you're okay with that. :)
I know this is really late but I was wondering if any of you were ever able to contact the members of Chili Con Valley. If so, what did they tell you about Valkyrie - The Magical Odyssey? I have been trying to find the CD version of the game for years to no avail.

I got in touch with a number of people - Xavier Kral who wrote the code for the game, Jean-Alain Le Borgne, and Renaud Dumeur. I think the main sticking point was that Xavier Kral wouldn't respond to subsequent messages I sent him.

It's a trip that the site is still up - http://chiliconvalley.online.fr/gamesuk.htm

Have you tried contacting Michel Delval? He lives in Belgium and I think he can certainly help.

I tried to contact http://www.tsf-org.org/?page=tsf-about-people in 2013 - both Michel and Benoit of C2V worked there - but I didn't get an answer then and now the email addresses don't work.

If you find an online way to contact him I could certainly try again, but you may just want to do it yourself. :) I don't have as much time as I used to put effort into this, especially since it's not like I was making a living off this.

I felt like doing a little so I looked into https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armies_of_Exigo (somebody else here may have already researched it)
According to someone on the EA forum, the publishing rights aren't with EA and its a messy situation.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Hole_Entertainment

Maybe the rights are with Andrew G. Vajna and he's difficult to reach, or they're spread across Vajna and multiple people. Since Black Hole wasn't shut down until recently, many people who worked there have BH on their LinkedIn resumes. For instance, the Project Manager of the game, Gabor Illes.

I assume GOG is aware of this and has done research on the game themselves, but the rights' situation is too messy. I probably won't do anymore but I figured I'd share.

Try this email: Xavier.kral(at)gmail.com

It's his new address. I think it should work.

Anyway, I was in contact with Xavier before and he told me once that Michel Delvel has copies of Valkyrie. I have not heard any updates from him, however. I am tempted to contact Michel myself but I do not know his current email address.
