Would you care to track the rights to Queen: The eYe? I had contacted one of the devs a while ago and was told that the rights should belong to EA, not Queen (the band). If that is the case, it would be a perfect fit for GOG since EA would probably have no objections to a digital release.

I can try (in my free time) if you need a little help, but I am pretty darn skeptical that Queen does not have any rights to the game, since Wikipedia says it "featured music by the rock group Queen which was re-mixed exclusively for The eYe by Joshua J. Macrae at Roger Taylor's studio in Surrey." Obviously if they did this would complicate things. (Can you help put me in touch with the dev?)

Maybe the remix is exclusive to the game, I don't know, but considering Queen was obviously huge by this point I assume they or their handlers would have made sure they retained at least the music rights of the game IP.

thanks a lot! I will send the dev's twitter profile via pm.

As an additional info, Omikron: The Nomad Soul also features David Bowie soundtrack, yet the game could appear here. There may be a similar story with Queen: The eYe.

You make a fair point, though I presume having an entire game based around Queen's music makes things a bit more dicey (plus the band's name is in the title). Doing research the 10 months hasn't given me a legal degree so this is pure speculation. :)

I believe it entirely depends on the agreement executed at the time the game was made. If Queen also shares some rights for distribution, things would of course get more complicated. But the dev's message to me sounded like there is hope.

Bowie's appearance in Nomad Soul goes beyond the soundtrack though - both he and his wife Iman appear as characters in the game and there's a few cut scenes that are like in-engine music videos for his tracks, again with a digitized version of Bowie performing them!
any good news? :p
I've got a new trail concerning the Thalion games and sent out a message yesterday. Hopefully I'll get a response.
I acquired several obscure titles on auction recently, hoping to pick up some threads concerning them down the way. Seems a lot of folks aren't interested in talking about their past games, though. Or perhaps can't, due to changes of ownership.

Yeah, it's a bit strange sometimes.
How about The Legacy: Realm of Terror ?

It was published by Microprose, developed by Magnetic Scrolls.

It was not included in Tommo deal, so probably the rights are back with Magnetic Scrolls.

It looks like they might be in the direct retail business for their titles. Their home page is here, and their shop here.

The sell an "EVERYTHING PACK" which seems to include digital downloads of most (or all) of their titles. It also includes a 1-Year NovaWorld Gold Membership, the benefit of which I know not. Nor could I find details on their DRM, if any.

Given they have their own store, it's uncertain whether they would want to partner with GOG. But it could be worth checking, also assuming GOG is amenable to it.

EDIT: Checked further, the membership is for online multiplayer. So you have to pay to maintain that apart from the game.

Ugh, it looks so spammy. What happened to them?
I found a bunch of contact info for them http://www.novalogic.com/corp_globalcontacts.asp.

So their games are not necessarily linked to Steam? I had seen a few Steam forums for some of their games and noticed that hardly anyone posted on them.

I'm guessing multiplay is handled through their own servers. I haven't found any information about DRM on their digitial downloads, but possibly they use some kind of proprietary online check, given their current business model.
