Hi folks, looking to fire up the research engines again. As always, I wanted to run the batch of titles by you to see if anyone already has these underway, or if you can think of any concerns or roadblocks regarding them.

Chronomaster

SpellCraft: Aspects of Valor

Druid: Daemons of the Mind

Daemonsgate

The Summoning

Obsidian

I suspect that Daemonsgate is already in progress. The Summoning may be a non-starter since it was published by SSI, and Obsidian may have issues since it's a Windows game rather than DOS.

Whatever the case, thanks for any feedback you can offer before I set off down the path!

Piranjade: The game is on GamersGate but region-restricted to the US.
Is that really the case? I can see it perfectly fine on both € GamersGate and GamersGate.co.uk. In both cases, it is published by Deep Silver.

For Spellcraft see here (though I don't know if anything will come from that):

Never heard back from Nigel Kershaw regarding Daemonsgate:
http://www.gog.com/forum/general/the_search_for_game_rights_a_diaryesque_thread/post252

I don't think I looked for info on the others, with the exception of Capstone in general, and only half-heartedly.
David J Eastman, the developer of
- Floor 13, a game where you have to keep the British Prime Minister in power by all means, and
- Conflict: Middle East Political Simulator where you fight inner and outer foes as Prime Minister of Israel,
links even to abandonware sites for download of the games.

The publisher was Virign Interactive. If Wikipedia information is valid, the assets were bought by Titus Interactive which later went bankrupt. Some assets are available here, e.g.
- The 7th guest, published by developer
- Interplay titles.

So would GOG be willing to sell the game, and if yes, who holds the rights/whom should I ask about this?

Cheers mate, I appreciate it. I knew Daemonsgate rang a bell - Nigel is one of my LinkedIn contacts. I had broached the game with him before and received no response about it, so I guess it's outside of his bailiwick.

Do you have contact info for Andy Riedel that you can share? Perhaps I can ping him as well regarding SpellCraft and other titles from that stable.

I think asking Mr. Eastman is a good place to start. It's possible the rights to the games ended up back with him.

Yes, I still have his email address in my inbox, I'll PM it to you.

I cannot see it and when I searched for the reason that's the information I found.

I get a page but it looks partly broken?
But I can see the game information and the price. :-)

I really hope that something can be done with Paraworld, because the GamersGate version comes with Tages. Meh.

Another thing. I stumbled about this:

Has anybody already hunted for Mechwarrior etc.? Do you think it might be worth contacting this Weisman - if we can find him, the website of his company doesn't load for me.

ParaWorld would be soo perfect for GOG Galaxy as I understand it. :-) I would love to see it here.
I passed on all information I have to Arek (and Judas, just because), so we can only wait.

He's with Harebrained Schemes, of Shadowrun Returns fame. I asked them about it some time ago and they wrote back:
"Unfortunately, we do not have the right to the Mechwarrior games. I believe the digital rights are held by Microsoft."

Ah thank you! After reading about it I wasn't sure if he held the rights for the old games as well. Now that that is cleared up and the rights are with Microsoft, I'll just move on to another game.
Does anyone know who owns the rights to Heart of Darkness?

I don't know, I've been looking though. I suspected Interplay might, but they don't have any support articles about it. Éric Chahi and the other producers of the game (Daniel Morais, Frédéric Savoir, Fabrice Visserot) ought to know, but I've had no luck getting in touch with any of them. Anyone else reading this, feel free to take a shot.
