Since Jordan Weisman and Harebrained Schemes got some of the licenses back for Battletech, I asked if they had the rights to the old Battletech and Mechwarrior games, and I was told that they are still held by Microsoft.
The Battletech video game rights are a separate 'entity' from the rest of the franchise, and Microsoft still holds those rights but does license them out to third-parties.

I also sent an e-mail to Dan Schmidt about Terra Nova: Strike Force Centauri (never heard back from him from my tweet several months back).

If your offer still stands, perhaps you can contact Dr. Schiebe about the CDV liquidation. Instead of focusing on Project Nomads like I did in my email, it might be better to ask (1) what games are included in the liquidation from the CDV games published, and (2) how one would make an offer for some or all of this catalogue. This would at least let us know what games are at stake and possibly how much the liquidation is expected to sell for (which in turn would give us an idea as to how likely some company is to pick it up).

It was the amazing game, I spent hours playing it. I think it wasn't well known in the US, but in Europe it was well received.

I know that at least German verion is freeware, but nothing about English version (plus it would still be nice to see it on GOG).

I was in contact quite a bit with that guy too. He helped point me to Lee Jacobson, the guy who I thought had the rights to the game. Last I heard he was getting in contact with GOG, but maybe there was a legal snag.

Hey guys, I was wondering about the legal status of Ever 17: The Out of Infinity. I was especially interested in this game because it was written by Kotaro Uchikoshi, the same writer as the Zero Escape series. The problem is that the company that released the English version, Hirameki International Group Inc, appears to have disappeared from the Internet completely.

From my understanding, the company still exists and is now a reseller of video game accessories for its Japanese home company Cyber Gadget, but I cannot confirm that information.

All I've been able to find is their physical address from 2007 thanks to the Internet Archive:

I've also been able to figure out that this is an office building called The Concourse, along with a bunch of phone numbers from other businesses in that building. I haven't found any contact information for the building administrators though. I'll have to wait for the end of the holidays to pursue this path further.
