Huh, I didn't realize Square Enix store had many of the games GOG has here. Obviously that makes sense, but I assumed Squeenix didn't really care about much of their older stuff.

They have Dungeon Siege available on their store, so I assume that could come to GOG once Squeenix is okay with a non-Steam version. :P 9.99 for that sounds good, just 50 cents more than Squeenix's version.

What good timing for you to bring them up! I just found this blog post where the CEO of Square Enix America/Europe gave out his e-mail address and encouraged people to send him feedback and suggestions:

Thanks! :) I'm glad the email address was provided, commenting wouldn't have been worth anything. (That post was from August and not January, correct?)

Message sent, asking for more DRM-free Squeenix classics not on here. Obviously it's very unlikely he'll respond, but maybe he'll take a second to forward the message to the appropriate people.
Spent a few hours browsing Home of the Underdogs. I like that you can search by publisher.

Figuring out who worked for Chili Con Valley has got me stumped, if anybody wants to try to figure it out. I think Valkyrie - The Magical Odyssey would make a good platformer for GOG, but I can't find any credits for the game. The website is still up, but of course the email addresses don't work.

Good find. I haven't found any further info yet, but there may be a clue in the game credits. This company also created Vyruz: Destruction of the Untel Empire, which seems to have been more popular, so there could be further leads to pursue there too.

I like the look of that game, I'll try the demo next time I have access to a Windows PC.

Chili Con Valley, according to their site, also operated under the name C2V (Computers, Communications, and Visions). There are some credits for another C2V game, Krypton Egg, on Mobygames:
http://www.mobygames.com/game/krypton-egg
and using C2V's info, I found these names:
Renaud Dumeur
Michel Delval
Jean-Alain Le Borgne
http://www.openresource.com/orgs/CS/P/C2V.shtml

I'll dig around for some better contact info. Judging by archived messages they posted, they all ought to speak English just about fluently.

Nice work as always. As usual, let me know if any of them need the LinkedIn approach. :)

Brilliant as always. ;) Thanks. I did grab a demo of Krypton Egg and actually wrote down some of those names from the credits, but your info on C2V's other people was more helpful.

Renuad Dumeur checks out for C2V - fr.linkedin.com/pub/renaud-dumeur/0/675/971 - so I think I'll start there. He apparently was co-founder, so maybe he knows who has the rights, or even has some of them himself!

Yes, I actually saw that on YouTube, and it looked like a darn good game, too. I'll ask about both Valkyrie and Vyruz in contacting people. (I was actually going to use LinkedIn, too, if you're okay with that. :)

Good call, and yes, LinkedIn away! :)
What does anybody think about Cybermercs? http://www.homeoftheunderdogs.net/game.php?id=4283
From what I've read it seems like a mediocre game, but http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bRBC4aGApxY makes it seem like it's kinda cool. And it does have a nice soundtrack: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WljVdujMSVQ&list=PLB28AD1721C2CD7B0

Thoughts?
I thought that thread died. You got me releived here. I like youir thread, quite the insightful odyssey.

SCPM: I asked the devs behind the Transport Tycoon mobile game about bringing the old games back to GOG, and all they said was that their priority right now was working on the mobile version, which sounds like they're at least open to the idea.

Since I just saw that post.... Looking at the pictures, this looks more like Locomotion than Transport Tycoon - the game's graphics are a dead giveaway. Hmmm. Did they title it TT because it's more commonly known?

Haha. Just reading the reviews on the iTunes store is kind of funny. People saying how they're long-time TT fans, but don't realize that it actually isn't the same game. I only saw two that caught on.

It's on and off, sort of, depending on how busy I and others are. :) I'm now doing Home of the Underdogs, as the structure there is a bit better for what I'm trying to do anyway.
Valkyrie Fight and Valkyrie Fight Tag

http://www.gamefaqs.com/pc/567325-valkyrie-fight says it was released in Japan. HOTU describes them as good games, but I'm not sure I want to even try getting in contact due to the presumed language barrier.. Anybody who happens to read/write Japanese and sees this wanna check it out?

I don't think this one's gonna happen. Those are doujinshi fan games that use the likenesses of characters from Square Enix's Valkyrie Profile series. Though it'd be awesome to have Valkyrie Profile on PC.
