tfishell: Good news! I'm not comfortable sharing all of it, but here's this:
Great stuff!

I'm doing some research into how viable it is to create DOSBox-like games for Amiga titles using WinUAE and AROS. I don't doubt that others have gone this route already, and if it looks promising I'll keep pursuing it. I'm doing this in part to see if I can help Mev Dinc bring his titles back. I'll probably pick up another thread of research as well soon, depending on how other things go.

Great stuff too! :) Would be cool to have a freeware Amiga emulator like DOSBox so GOG could bring Amiga classics, for sure.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ICOM_Simulations

"The rights to ICOM's game portfolio were held by the company Infinite Ventures, but they are now owned by David Marsh who obtained most of the rights in January, 2012.[7] On March 5, 2012, Dave Marsh and Karl Roelofs, both former developers at ICOM Simulations, formed a new game development company called Zojoi, LLC, and have begun releasing upgraded versions of previous ICOM Simulations titles, starting with Sherlock Holmes: Consulting Detective for iOS Tablets."

I tweeted them: https://twitter.com/zojoi and sent a Facebook message: https://www.facebook.com/zojoigame

The Sherlock games are on Desura for 3.99 each, but hopefully GOG could make a 9.99 deal somehow. Or maybe the inclusion of both the originals and remakes would make the releases worth 5.99 each, I dunno.

tfishell: If we're able to reach Rolf, he may be the key to Darkseed and other Cyberdreams games. EDIT: I guess CyberRace is the only other Cyberdreams game. :P
I'm not sure if this info would help, but Cyberdreams did have one other game besides Dark Seed 1&2, CyberRace, and IHNMAIMS. It was known as Noir: A Shadowy Thriller.
Does anyone remember the DOS game Noctropolis? It's from that same generation of edgier games like Harvester and Bad Mojo. Could be an interesting resurrection. Might have some issues however since it was (1) published by Electronic Arts and (2) contains real nudity (FMV scenes). I think the first item might be the bigger potential obstacle though.

Richard Cobbett did a Video review of that a while back

I don't understand why you see being published by EA as an obstacle though as GOG has then signed and released another Wing Commander just a couple of weeks ago...

Just a reflex distrust of them. As a huge corporation, they have all kinds of inscrutable machinations that can throw up a blocker. For example, some lawyer deep in the bowels may decide they don't want this particular title resurfacing because its content could reflect badly on EA. Not saying that it actually would, just that all it takes is one drone like that to throw a spanner in the works. Typically the smaller the company the easier to negotiate on obscure titles, I feel. But that's not backed by anything empirical.

FWIW, Dave's previous contact with GOG about the Sherlock Holmes games was quite discouraging. See these threads and here - they're almost a year old and things might have changed in the mean time, I sure hope so as Dave's a nice guy and dedicated to bringing his games (great collection, btw) back to life.

Could you link to specific discouraging posts in those threads?

Sure, why not:
-- One
-- Two - this one is particularly discouraging as it talks about the whole ICOM Simulations library.
-- Three
-- Four

OtakuMan is a guy working with or for Dave and manages the Zojoi Facebook, but sadly I can't remember his name.

Hopefully Turnipslayerr will see this post and help change GOG's mind. EDIT: I also sent a message to him about this.

Shadowgate has almost 700 votes on the GOG wishlist! Da fuq, GOG?

Seconded. The Sherlock titles would be great games to have on here. I assume there are no licensing problems, even though this is derived from the board game, since they are already being sold on Desura.
GOG should resurrect some of the DOS Simx games, such as SimAnt, SimIsle, etc. - maybe bundle a few related ones together. (SimAnt has over 1000 wishlist votes: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/sim_ant)

SimEarth + SimFarm for 5.99? (SimEarth's graphics do look pretty bleh)
SimLife + SimAnt for 5.99?
SimIsle + SimSafari for 5.99?

Or maybe most of these would be worth 5.99 on their own?

I do wonder if we could up the chances of seeing bigger publishers and stuff like the older D&D games if we'd start a some sort of mailing campaign to ask them to join GOG? To my understanding one of the major obstacles is that the bigger companies don't really care about their backlog. They have all these old IPs that came with company purchases and they don't think it's even worth the effort to start digging them up. Maybe if people showed them there's actual interest and their backlog has some value after all...?

In the case of the older D&D games, I think it's a matter of bringing Ubisoft (who owns the SSI titles), Hasbro (who owns the rights to the board games or misc D&D stuff, I guess), Wizards of the Coast (who bought the TSR rights), and GOG together in some fashion to work out the re-releases.

I'm not particularly interested in spam-messaging a bunch of people or companies, since I feel like that would be a waste of time and resources.

However, I'm willing to take the time to create a petition for these re-releases on http://www.change.org/petition, and try to promote that a bit on Reddit, Facebook, Twitter, etc. Unfortunately we probably wouldn't see any interest unless the petition got tens of thousands of votes.
Sent a quick tweet to https://twitter.com/microids_off about bringing the Dragon Lore games (isn't there more than one?) to GOG, because it seems like they may be under Microids' control now.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragon_Lore:_The_Legend_Begins
