What I can see is one really maltreated person leashing out. And while I wouldn't do it, because really... that's the fucking side of the internet and you kind of get used to it.
Alaric(us), you have approached me with your problem in a sensible, friendly manner. So I assume you are a reasonably, friendly person.
I really can't reconstruct what has happened here in the months of my absence and how you somehow chose sides in this mad troll war. And how things have escalated here.
But I can assure you that TinyE is a really nice person at heart, a cancer survivor, with a maybe quirky (IMO great) sense of humour. And he used to have a rather thick skin. Something must have happened to have him made lost this thick skin... I don't know. I know that from some day on he was constantly attacked... in this place where he kind of had found a "home" and was accepted and appreciated.
How would you feel? You're community suddenly filling with people who openly attack you?
Probably got you the most minus rep hit you're so proud of.
You are the least person to have a say in this.
And I don't say this very often, but GET THE F*CK OUT OF HERE!
Now, so far as I am concerned, his previous history doesn't much matter. I don't care if he used to be a sweet angel, I don't care if he survived cancer, AIDS, and Ebola, and I certainly don't care for his alcoholism. Yes, modern medicine does wonders, but it doesn't mean all patients are automatically good people. Objectively, I agree, it is too bad that people started constantly attacking him. (Though I am having an incredibly difficult time believing that it was for no reason.) Still, the way I see it, one should either take it in stride or leave. I'm attacked all the time and somehow I managed to not be rude to anyone and to avoid threatening people and wishing their families were gang raped. Something tells me it's not a superpower unique to me alone.
TinyE, on the other hand, despite your claims of being nice at heart, is a vile and bitter man, prone to fits of rage that he cannot control and during which he spews forth every bit of profanity he can muster, along with wishes for others' deaths and rapes. His nice heart manages to keep a blind eye to this somehow.
In any event, what matters to me are my own interactions with him. Those interactions started with this and then continued on onesidedly in that manner. Onesidedly because I never responded in kind since I am better.
None of this is to say that you shouldn't continue being on good terms with tinyE. In fact I think that if the two of you are managing to have a friendly relationship you should keep at it. But when you try to convince others, who've had a drastically different experience with him, of him being nice... well, it just looks strange.
P.S. - For the record, Tauto, whom you just told to GTFO, had not once been so much as slightly rude to me.
