Whether GOG knows about it? Are you hoping the people running it openly volunteer to say who they are in the thread?

GOG likely knows about them, especially since they follow (or followed) a similar site's Twitter account. The similar site died though, from the looks of it.

That being said, why would it need to have motivation via Epic? Because someone hasn't approved your comments there so you just assume the administration is on Epic's payroll? Maybe the staff don't want to bother with more comments about Epic given how incendiary they all tend to be.

This seems like an old post, but I thought I'd add this anyway, even if just as an excuse to say hello.

It was pirating one of their games that bought me to GOG in the first place. I normally wouldn't do something like this, for one thing I'm a collector and digital games give me nothing to put on my shelves. However last year I lost 3TB of harddrives due to them being fried by repeated power failures in the building I used to live in, even with a surge protector.

It was when trying to reinstall Neverwinter Nights 2 that I discovered the sticker containing the code for my Mask of the Betrayer expansion had come loose and vanished meaning I could no longer use it. I tried getting a replacement code with no luck and it was when looking for some kind of crack to install it that I found a torrent site, I don't remember which one, offering what it called something like a "DRM Free GOG Version" of this. I'd never even heard of GOG up to this point, but I downloaded it and was surprised to find it was a fully functional version of the complete game.

After a while I looked up GOG and liked what I saw of them, especially when I learned they were connected with CD Project Red (do they ever get tired of hearing how amazing The Witcher 3 is you think?) so I signed up and brought a bunch of games in the sale they had on at the time. A lot of these I already own a hard copy of, but it's nice to know I also have a version that I'll have no problems with in the future. I also wrote to GOG directly to explain what had happened and how I found them so I'd like to thank them again for how cool they were with their response.

I'm happy to say that I now have a properly paid for version of Neverwinter Nights 2 Complete, so at least in this case piracy did something good and got GOG a new customer, not to mention giving me a whole new collection of Digital games :)

I also stopped pirating a ton when I found Gog, which sold DRM free games for cheap from ages past.....although I still do so for games no one carries anymore, for obvious reasons.

In my case it was Heroes of Might and Magic. I own the German version on CD (two times even, I think). One day I got so fed up with the horrible German translation I went to look for a copy of the original.
I had used abandonware sites before and don't feel bad about it. And I found HoMM on one of those sites. But instead of the usual "download" button, there was a "Buy Now on GOG" (Good Old Games back then). I was curious and followed the link and suddenly I felt like a kid in a candy store. So many great classics, both I already had and which I always wanted to play - complete with installers that worked out of the box without hours of tinkering. And each one of them only a couple of dollars...
And here I am with 920 games in the account...

Not sure if I've told this in this thread earlier. But I found GoG throw The Pirate Bay. I was naughty and got The Witcher 2 for free. It clearly said in the torrent description or nfo that it was from GoG. Didn't think much about it at first, but checked it up at a later moment. DRM free games, well, that's my cup of tea.
I've been able to delete a couple of games that have been "free".

Oh and the games owned counter must be bugged, it just keeps rising....
