There is no inherent connection whatsoever between either "smut" and/or "anime" automatically equaling "bad quality," hence that quoted argument is based upon a false premise.

And the truth is quite the contrary, because anime-style games are generally made by non-Western devs, who, unlike all major AAA Western devs in modern times, the Japanese devs actually care about the quality of their products, and therefore produce great products most of the time.

Those games would be much better than most of the stuff that GOG does let in currently.

In the Witcher games you can sleep with countless women and collect trophies of your wild nights. Hows that different then sleeping with a refrigerator or having relations with a pigeon, or a monster? how about screwing and then killing a vampire and wearing there fangs as a trophy? What about waiting for a woman to die and then sleeping with her as a zombie? Its all on GOG, its all here for you to experience, where is the line drawn?

Answer: you as a consumer make the line, don't like it don't buy it, no need to search for it if that's not what you want... Steam works off algorithms, if you are looking at this its going to present to you more. They tie into google and Facebook and other ad/behavior trackers. You are generating your content on steam... When I load it up I see nothing but space games and VR titles. I never see the sexy nudity filled games at all as an example.

You can filter adult content on steam as well as hide tags. Just filter out ''Hentai'', ''Nudity'' and possibly ''Anime'' tags and you'll be all set for the high-IQ gaming experience.

I'd be fine with less curation as long as the game passed a basic QA test and GOG had more ways of discovering things similar to Steam (and avoiding games you're likely to dislike).

I guess complaining on the forum can work if enough people are vocal enough but mostly (and I'm probably stating the obvious) it'd be a matter of these games doing poorly here sales-wise - that's how you'd "keep GOG pure" or whatever.

Sadly, that ceased to be a thing a pretty long time ago for whatever reason. Nowadays, if somebody doesn't like something, it has to be changed/censored/cancelled etc. so some snowflakes don't start a Twitter drama or something.... The logical option of "If I don't like it, ignore it" no longer flies.
