--Original announcement--
Piñata Madness is back – meaning excitement, mystery, and exceptional deals on some of our favorite hand-picked titles.

What is Piñata Madness?
For $3, you can buy and smash your own digital Piñata, each holding one of 100+ mystery games worth anywhere from $5.99 all the way up to $44.99.
Visit your Pinata hub, where can buy, open, and see everything Piñata Madness!
Just like real-life Piñatas, they'll bring you joy, surprise, and reward. Unlike real-life Piñatas, ours drop really good games instead of candy – games like Pillars of Eternity, Shadow Warrior 2, Heroes of Might and Magic, Victor Vran, and more!
It's a great way to broaden your horizons and try out games you otherwise wouldn't, knowing you're always getting a deal that's worth it. And if you already own every game included in our Piñatas, each game you drop will be a giftable code so you share the joy with your friends.

Weekly Megasale
If you'd rather know exactly you're getting, check out the Weekly Megasale featuring great deals up to -90% on some of our favorite titles including Darkest Dungeon, Shadowrun: Hong Kong, Heroes of Might and Magic III, and more!

The Piñata Madness and Weekly Megasale last until August 21, 2017, 9:59 PM UTC.

Klumpen0815: Let me get this straight.

You cannot upgrade
Pillars od Eternity
Tyranny
Wasteland 2
Kyn

oO?
Yup and I just checked Armikrog, Kyn, and Anti-Hero are all published by Versus Evil who allegedly sell the soundtrack on steam if you have the base game. Not sure about Kyn as there's no other editions listed there so maybe it already includes the soundtrack.

EDIT: Wasteland 2 actually has an upgrade but it appears some pinatas malfunctioned and didn't mark anything as owned.

obi4ammama: I dont think that crippled versions were destributed for the pinata promo. I suspect some kind of bug. I sent a ticket to the support two days ago. The answer i got was that they were investigating the issue and that they will comeback to me as soon as they know something.

eiii: I'm not so sure... But lets hope it's only a bug. I also have opened a support ticket now.
I just got an update from support. They were told that there should be a fix for this tomorrow. :P

Yesterday two orders have been added to my order list, one for "Pillars of Eternity: Hero Edition" and one for "Wasteland 2 Director's Cut Digital Classic Edition". But in my library there is no change for Pillars of Eternity, the entry still is named "Pillars of Eternity", no Hero Edition. And for Wasteland 2 a second entry has been added to my library, named just "Wasteland 2", not "Wasteland 2 Director's Cut Digital Classic Edition". Strange...

I'm curious if it's the same when you have bought the games in a regular sale and not from a Piñata.

Could someone who has bought the Pillars of Eternity: Hero Edition in a regular sale (not from a Piñata) please tell me how many library entries for Pillars of Eternity he has (under account -> "GAMES" -> "MY COLLECTION") and what names the entries have?

The same for Wasteland 2: Could someone who has bought the Wasteland 2 Director's Cut Digital Classic Edition in a regular sale (not from a Piñata) please tell me how many library entries for Wasteland 2 he has (under account -> "GAMES" -> "MY COLLECTION") and what names the entries have?

I also got these two games (plus Tyranny) in the Piñata Madness sale, and I got the same result as you. Namely: a new entry called "Wasteland 2" in my library and nothing else (not even for Tyranny). The new library entry contains a different installer and some different goodies.

The Pillars of Eternity entry hasn't changed at all (i,.e. it only contains the installers and a 5MB manual), while the Tyranny entry now includes 3 ringtones as goodies.

EDIT: However, both Pillars of Eternity: Hero Edition and Tyranny: Commander Edition now appear as owned in the catalog so now I'll be able to buy their DLCs if I so desire.

I have one entry for Pillars that just says Pillars of Eternity.

Same for Wasteland 2, I'm able to buy the deluxe edition upgrade now if I want to.

Thanks for confirmation!

So it looks like GOG now has replaced the "special" game editions from the Piñatas with regular editions which are listed in the catalog. Good! No need to ask for a refund anymore and I finally can download the games. :)

The only downside is that there is no upgrade path for Pillars of Eternity. But I think for $3 I'll nevertheless keep it, now that I at least have an "official" edition which is listed in the catalog.

Yes, thanks for eventually solving the problem! But GOG could have avoided the problem from the beginning when they only would have added "official" game versions to the Piñatas. Hopefully they learn something from it for the next Piñata like sale...

HereForTheBeer: Not a sale for me, but I do hope others enjoy it.
The Galaxy-free installers should be available under the MORE tab. I think. They're there somewhere, just gotta make an extra click or two.
avatar
kohlrak: They're there, you just have to hit the menu button for them. I thought at one point it was being outright forced on us, too, but they're just being downright underhanded in getting you to download it, like those toolbars that come with some installers on other websites: everyone just clicks through without reading. What kills me more is, they aren't even using the product themselves in the offices, else they would've caught the issue during the testing phases before deciding to go through with the sale. They goofed big-league. They're basically implying they don't even use a product they're trying to forcibly make us swallow.
avatar
finkleroy: If you click the "MORE" button, you can click "CLASSIC INSTALLERS" to switch to the Galaxy-free offline installers. Also, the GOG.com Downloader automatically downloads the Galaxy-free offline installers.

Thanks guys, this was extremely helpful.

Oh, the old GOG Downloader is still around? Thanks, downloaded a backup copy :D
Found this in "my favorite topic"s. The very last "game of luck" sale, correct?
I miss these kind of sales.
