--Original announcement--
Piñata Madness is back – meaning excitement, mystery, and exceptional deals on some of our favorite hand-picked titles.

What is Piñata Madness?
For $3, you can buy and smash your own digital Piñata, each holding one of 100+ mystery games worth anywhere from $5.99 all the way up to $44.99.
Visit your Pinata hub, where can buy, open, and see everything Piñata Madness!
Just like real-life Piñatas, they'll bring you joy, surprise, and reward. Unlike real-life Piñatas, ours drop really good games instead of candy – games like Pillars of Eternity, Shadow Warrior 2, Heroes of Might and Magic, Victor Vran, and more!
It's a great way to broaden your horizons and try out games you otherwise wouldn't, knowing you're always getting a deal that's worth it. And if you already own every game included in our Piñatas, each game you drop will be a giftable code so you share the joy with your friends.

Weekly Megasale
If you'd rather know exactly you're getting, check out the Weekly Megasale featuring great deals up to -90% on some of our favorite titles including Darkest Dungeon, Shadowrun: Hong Kong, Heroes of Might and Magic III, and more!

The Piñata Madness and Weekly Megasale last until August 21, 2017, 9:59 PM UTC.
The Guild 2, which I already had at Steam.

My first and last Pinata sale - bought two Pinatas, got two games I'll never play. Oh well, I learned my lesson.
Will any games be added to the normal part of the sale in the coming days?
Good sale for them not for you. I bought 4 between this sale and the last one and only 1 of the 4 is something I would have bought. Just find a game you want on sale and buy it. When you gamble you almost always lose.

Seven Kingdoms 2 HD Edition
Heroes of Might and Magic 4
The wolf amoug us telltale series

These are 3 i got from this sale,, wolf amoug us is okay, other 2 ahh not so much, might and magic maybe I load up to see how it plays. But yeah I ain't buying anymore pinatas on this sale or future sales.

I think almost all of them are.
The only thing you might win with a pinata is a fixed $3 price, which may be the same as the sale price, or could be significantly lower.

Do your math, take a look at the pool of the games and your chances of getting the ones you actually want - unless you have a long wishlist matching the pool, chances are you are better of buying at the sale price.

e.g. I had a fair pool match, and I got quite a few I would have bought anyway - probably not now, but eventually, no loss there. With bonus free games I will never touch.
After this my pool match was down to 2 titles: The Signal from Tölva, and Shadow Warrior 2.
Signal is about the price of 2 pinatas - and the pool of games I have no interest in/already have is large.
Discounting the different pool count for each title (more expensive ones are rare), I was this time better off buying at sale price, chances are very slim to get Tölva from 2 pinatas, rather than 2 unvwanted games.

Same with Shadow Warrior 2: must be very low pool count, and you can get it for 6 pinatas - vs lots of games I don't want.
Odds are in favour of buying it, rather than buying 6 pinatas.

The moral of the story: do your odds calculations and stop/buy at sale price when the odds are no longer in your favour.

Unless of course you like giving away money/gambling.
In that case, just gamble away the price of the games you could have bought instead ;)

You won nothing, you paid $3 each for those games.

Even worse, unless it's regionally priced in Romania, he paid more for the pinata than Brothers costs on sale right now.
Very very very bad Pinata idea execution. I was super excited for such idea of spending some small amount and participate in some kind of lottery and at start it was relatively ok.
1) I got Republique. At least it is worth 3.99, and Pinata 1.99. So it is ok, but then I noticed that I received not Deluxe Edition, but usual. So the win becomes just minimum expected from such lottery.
2) Decided to continue and got World in Conflict Complete edition. And here is why I was frustrated: it costs 1.49 in store now, and Pinata 1.99. So I received less than paid. Awful feeling.
3) And in pretty negative mood decided to try last time this lottery. Got Imperium Galactica, which costs now 1.79

Of course those sums are not significant to waste, but the only fact, that I received games from sale, which costs less, than I spent, gives me very awful feeling that I was cheated somehow. I will never try it again unless I see LOTS of positive stories in future, when NOBODY receives less, than they spent, in fact I will even encourage people to not even try it.

The opportunity to receive expensive games of course is interesting, but the first impression is so bad, I think this whole idea is to just compensate from big amount of users the money, which will be spent by GOG owners to gift expensive games. So basically I and lots of users like me just spent money, so someone will be given expensive game, and GOG owners, game makers and publishers will not lose anything.

At best I can call this Pinata idea - very usual sale with bad taste.

Yeah seemed like a good idea until the games i was getting were cheaper games I didn't really want. I tryed, I suppose if you end up with a good expensive game right away it may feel more worth it. The more expensive popular games I would think are rarer to get from a Pinata.

I now have 4 games I will never play. Haha oh well
I bought five piñatas, i got Warlods Battlecry III (looks fine), Skyshines Bedlam Deluxe edition ( maybe i would try it), Saints Row Gat out of Hell (already own it on Steam), Guild " The Renaissance (never heard of that game) and Republique, a game that i wanted to play for a long time.
Not bad at all.
I got :

Bombshell

République

The Guild 2

Not the games/genres I would normally play... but it will be a nice opportunity for a change, so I'm OK with my pinatas :-)
Why are so many people so pissed at the piñatas?! I think it's pretty clear that it's a *gamble*; you're playing with RNG and odds and percentages, here. GOG is not exactly hiding that, either, you can read all about how this works on the Piñata Madness FAQ.

Yes, there's a relatively high chance of us getting a game we weren't interested in, and we may even pay (a few cents) more if we get a game from a piñata than what that game is going for in the current sale, but at least we're always paying less than the game's base price...

Plus, no one is forcing you to buy piñatas and gamble your money away. If you don't like taking chances, GOG has got you covered, as well; they're holding a pretty decent sale along the piñata madness, you can just get games from there. Or just don't buy any game at all, and no piñata, there's always that option, too.
