There are some interesting features planned (the 'novelties' pointed out by Mawain), and I'll probably throw at least the minimum pledge at the Kickstarter to get the game.

For anyone looking at it and not sure about it, do note that some things listed as features of the game are Kickstarter dependent (romance options and different languages). I don't think it will be the next CRPG 'hit' (still looks too generic, even with the 'novelties'), but for a CRPG junkie like me, it does look like it will scratch the itch and probably be worth the minimum price at least.

As to the GOG release, they seem pretty definitive on that. Maybe they already have an agreement with GOG but it's just not announced here yet.

Why so pessimistic? Paypal will come later, they can't do it at the start of the campaign because paypal plegdes are not counted in the actual kickstarter campaign.

I checked out the gameplay video (thanks for not making the usual crap, but an actually informative one!), and it looks interesting. Not heard about it before, but a new RPG with new concepts cannot be a bad thing.

Will check out some articles on their website and see if I get more intrigued. If it has a strong story without too many of the usual cliches, it's a plus in the book ;-)

Oh, and unlike in POE, I hope loading screens won't take half an eternity (SSD helps, but still... wow!).

Ingame backer rewards ruin games, but are apparently super necessary to motivate donors. A "serious tone" game à la PoE gets the funny look-it's-me tombstones, a "comedic" game à la Thimbleweed becomes a huge kickstarter in-joke in and by itself. It's worse than having a corporate sponsor and pepsi billboards all over middle earth. So yeah, I tend to keep away from games financed that way, from now on. I keep to single player games to avoid some middle age setting getting filled with bunnyhopping K3vIn_K1cka$S and BaTmAn97, I'm not keen on these single player games filling up with some equivalent (in the landscape, as NPC, or in game mechanics) as a kind of reward for its funders.

But they haven't even planned such things, you are way to pessimistic man, you could at least give it a chance.

The couriers portion gave me a chuckle. Also, the redundant dark overtone. If you have a geyser spewing blackness, is it too small to spread, thus you need another distribution system to deliver the darkness? Or perhaps black geyser is describe the courier system itself.

Yup. Let's just say it's become my default expectations from now on. This is my preemptive growl. We'll see for the rest.

How can you even know that the story isn't good, just because the game has a dark tone, doesn't make any sense to me.

Bit off-topic or a tangent, but I managed to re-locate a game from years ago that looked pretty interesting and innovative in terms of gameplay mechanics: Sui Generis. Apparently it's called Exanima now. Was supposed to be released in 2014, and still isn't out. Judging by comments on Kickstarter and their forum, backers are not best pleased. I hoped it was out as it was a game I kept tabs on at the time, yet didn't back (which I guess was a good thing).

Naturally I hope that won't be repeated for this game, and it looks to have come a bit farther, but it's always a risk with these KS games.

I agree it looks generic and the title is bad and the writing+voice acting is bad bad bad. A 2nd video of it started as I was typing this so I gave that a minute, so I could actually see what gameplay was like and more writing, it's hard to tell if the writing is as bad as the voice acting or if the voice acting just makes the meh writing worse.

Did you notice the game is on GOG? Still as an In-Dev title though.
