Why can't we just get Batman vs Predator already? I'm not kidding, I thought the comic was awesome and I've been waiting for it to be made into a movie ever since I first read it.

Well that looks terrible :P Luckily the first film is already perfect and still holds up perfectly today. 2nd one is ok too.

I thought Predators was pretty good too. At least as good as Predator 2. In fact, I think even the first Alien vs Predator is not that bad. Not very good, not nearly as good as it could have been, but still a decent sci-fi action movie.

Oh yes, my thoughts exactly. Predators was surprising in that I didn't think it could be good, but in the end it was an effective Predator film I thought. And it was a blast to root for the Predator in AvP :) I'm still a little sad that the big mean Predator died so quickly :P

I thought the pic of the "new" cast was a joke. I mean...they are a joke, but, yeahhhh....

I think AvP is quite good. The script is poorly written which makes the movie come off poorer than it should, but everything else is well done, especially the story (I think the story is great.) Good acting, good direction, great overall "feel" to it. Still haven't seen the 2nd one though.

I'm working on a remake of "The Sum of All Fears".

The movie is 90 minutes of me lying on the floor.

I trust Shane Black to make a good movie.

And also I don't think it's a reboot, I read it's part of the Predator continuity somewhere I think.

Remaking these classic films I think offends more than anything else in the world. I've only seen one remake that I think was almost as good as the original and that was The Hills Have Eyes.

The two films that upset me the most that they were remade were A Nightmare on Elm Steet and Robocop. I mean those films are so so good - it's an absolute travesty that the younger generation may now dismiss these in favour of the remakes. I watched the Nightmare on Elm Street remake out of pure curiosity but it just wasn't Freddy. I can't even bring myself to watch the Robocop remake...

Exactly. And the fact they just go and use the original name. "The Predator". At least do like Terminator, and slap on another word (Terminator Genisis), or call this Predator 3. Even if we're wrong, and this is a decent film, it still will not be the original. Which is a sci-fi classic!

Seriously, they remade Dirty Dancing with people who CAN'T DANCE! You think that would have been a priority when casting! :O

Next week we start casting our remake of "Enter the Dragon" starring only people who don't know any martial arts.

It's a good film. And barely a remake. It's more like a different take on the subject, focusing on other implications of the concept. "If a private company tried to manufacture cyborg cops ? Hmm, well, I think that it would go like this (but again I'm interested in these aspects)...".

I really didn't feel it was stepping on the feet of the original.

As for the Predator, they can "remake" it as often as they want, I don't think it would be any different than making sequels. I don't really see it as material for an ongoing story (Pred 2 had just a couple of references to Pred 1), but more for different occurences of Predator hunts. A bit like the Hellraiser movies : Here's the story of that guy who stumbled upon Lemarchand's box, now here's the story of that woman who found it another time, etc... I'm just not certain that notions of remakes or sequel really apply when it comes to another Predator. So, fire away.

At worst, I'll be like "Ooh, that guy was also named Dutch ? What were the odds !".

(But I kinda miss the innocent times where we had a shitload of Dracula movies, and nobody cared about labelling them "sequels" or "reboots". That's exactly how Predator should function.)

I liked the new Robocop more than the original.

I honestly don't think the original is a good movie at all, and the new one, while far from great, is a more interesting and more engaging exploration of the ideas that the original never really did much with, being too busy with terribly unfunny and unsubtle satire.
