heartburnron: I can't even bring myself to watch the Robocop remake...
It's a good film. And barely a remake. It's more like a different take on the subject, focusing on other implications of the concept. "If a private company tried to manufacture cyborg cops ? Hmm, well,
I think that it would go like
this (but again I'm interested in
these aspects)...".
I really didn't feel it was stepping on the feet of the original.
As for the Predator, they can "remake" it as often as they want, I don't think it would be any different than making sequels. I don't really see it as material for an ongoing story (Pred 2 had just a couple of references to Pred 1), but more for different occurences of Predator hunts. A bit like the Hellraiser movies : Here's the story of that guy who stumbled upon Lemarchand's box, now here's the story of that woman who found it another time, etc... I'm just not certain that notions of remakes or sequel really apply when it comes to another Predator. So, fire away.
At worst, I'll be like "Ooh, that guy was
also named Dutch ? What were the odds !".
(But I kinda miss the innocent times where we had a shitload of Dracula movies, and nobody cared about labelling them "sequels" or "reboots". That's exactly how Predator should function.)
