There was no "new normal." We're just dealing with the consequences of the old normal.

I trust this source more than any of the official consultants of the government in my country:

Ex-Pfizer CSO and VP

The new normal is on it's way...vaccine passports. The EU already passed them in the parliament.

kohlrak: Separate for the environment, for a second, to reflect "the US southern border issue," and how pretend concern for the individuals coming across is doing more harm than good.
avatar
haidynn: Far right extremists like you are the ones doing more harm than good. No one is pretending to be concerned about their fellow human's lives, but to someone who only cares about his own wealth and has no problem with people starving in the streets, it's understandable you don't welcome foreigners with open arms.
Ah yes, those of us who believe in smaller government and charities closer to the ground rather than tax credits and random money redistribution, so that those clower to the ground can get the money to those who need it better, rather than the scammers who get it regularly now instead of the many veterans and illegals (i mean, now that they're here and can't really go home) whom can't get it without an address.

kohlrak: A good portion of them make the journey thinking it's entirely legitimate and sactioned by both the US government and the general US population.
The majority of the US voting population voted against racism, so people seeking a better life from conservative countries are more than welcome to come here. We realize that far right extremists have poisoned the well and made it absurdly difficult to even get a green card, all because of their xenophobia. If you actually cared so much about illegals, you'd try making it easier for them to be legal!
I know you're a troll, and I thank you for feeding me like this, but this isn't much to work with. I know there's no way you'd be able to defend this claim, which means even asking is a waste of time.

Though, I will point out that Trump managed to increase the green card rate by a hell of a lot compared to his predecessors (including Obama).

There's actually alot to be said about this, and I don't know where to begin, other than "yep, you're right."

You do realize the thread's very nature was breaking the rules, right? The lockdowns are more of a political issue than COVID simulator games. Hell, it's on par with that we will riot giveaway. It's just not as immediately encendiary, but there's no way to open a discussion on them with any honesty without speaking about how we got here. Don't even try to pretend that you were unaware of this when you made the damn thread.

The thread was about a streamed concert. You can talk to a moderator about the rest.

nightcraw1er.488: Thought I would just share this, me and the missus have just watched Nightwish live gig...online. It’s very unusual, nightwish were in a virtual world streamed live online (tickets are still up for tomorrow!), and I watched it at home and the missus on face time (she had a ticket also but the system locked out for her before anyone asks! and yes she is stuck abroad due to work for 1yr now!). Is this the way things are going to be from now on do you think. Nightwish were good as you would expect, but it didn’t feel like a gig, there is something to be said for the stale smell of sweat, the stream of cheap beer (at extortionate prices).
I know, BoJo likes to bandy vaccines as the way out, but is still locking down cities, other nations quarantining visitors etc. Let’s face it measles, rabies, malaria etc. have been with us for hundreds of years, will we still be quarantining, testing, banning travel (unless someone is making some money) into 2121?'

Anyways, it was a nice break from the day to day grind to see something live.
Totally about a concert. Underlined for the extra obvious bait. I understand this thread is about how you can't go to live concerts, anymore, because of the lockdowns, not a thread about the quality of the concert. This is also evidenced by the thread title. Don't even try to claim you thought it wouldn't turn out like this.

coffeedrone: This sh#t won't last forever. I have a running joke that the vaccine cures the common cold for good. Anyway, the human race survived far worse! And the protection we have is far better. Imagine Ebola running rampant without intervention.
avatar
kohlrak: You see, blocking travel from africa wouldn't be racist like blocking traffic from china. ;)
Because Ebola is far worse?! Nothing to do with race bud.

nightcraw1er.488: Well, that’s the flip side isn’t it, for all that it’s personal tragedy for those who have died from it, populations have continued upwards regardless. Something will give eventually. A species we have become so robust and flexible in our defence nothing but complete consumption of the host (earth) seems likely.

timppu: Ok, so the crux of the problem is:

1. People like to eat too much meat.

2. There are too many people.

Well... people are made of meat, so, at least to me, don't know about you, but to me, yes me, the most straightforward solution would sound to be that we should start eating each other, or even ourselves. Both problems would be solved at the same time.

Anyway, how I prefer spending my COVID lockdowns at home is watching pandemic-themed movies from the past decades and being like "Pffft, pussies...".

Shadowstalker16: Lockdowns are still trending here, and we'll be getting news about whether the current state-wide lockdown will be extended today. I don't think the world will be 'normal' again anytime soon and in my opinion,
Don't see why not. The entire lockdown and virus 'pandemic' is BS as far as i can tell. Remember this is compared to the 1917 Spanish flu, which when there was about 1 Billion or so people, killed 60 million in 2 years; while they are pushing everything as 'Covid death' and can't push a million, and they long since went to 'suspected infected' and not even trying anymore. Plus the 'test' has a 50% false positive rate...

Personally, ignore it. They can only push fear so far, the virus is unlikely to kill you unless you're 80+ and have 2+ co-morbidities.

Live your life normally, you'll be safer.

morolf: Ebola isn't as easily transmissible as Covid iirc, you need close contact with someone infected to get it, whereas Covid is spread even by aerosols. Of course there might eventually be some disease that combines Ebola's lethality and Covid's easy transmissibility.
True true. But I dread the day that Ebola will become as you say. ...I'm not gonna say it. Hopefully things will turn for the better in the long run! :D

Ebola is not that transmissible, you have to have actual contact with bodily fluids of the infected person, as Morolf said. What I am concerned about is ADE with vaccinated people against COVID 19. The NHS already has a passage of expected worse vaccinated cases for some reason in a prognosis.

Then why is it that the people who want small governments don't donate as much to charity? In fact, the people who want big government donate more to charity than the people who claim how much better it would be if we got rid of welfare and just let everyone starve to death.

Hillary won the popular vote, Biden won the popular vote, the majority of Americans voted against Racism TWICE. You can polish a turd like Trump, but it doesn't change the fact that he was a racist Turd who repeatedly called anyone south of the border rapists and murderers.
