Chandoraa: I'm kinda confused by this sale: Are we seeing new individual titles added each day, or just new bundles? Maybe I was just unlucky not to have any of my wishlisted games be discounted yet and that's why I didn't notice.

Anyway, definitely not a fan of the new "bundle only not a bundle unless you buy x games but some of these won't actually get the maximum discount no matter what and will actually make your average discount lower" flavour of bundle. Come on, GOG, what are you trying to pull here? You are supposed to be the patron saints of no-bullshit great discounts, don't start messing it up now!
Agreed, I also have the impression that the individual titles listed at the top are not always all new ones, and the "New and Notable" tab doesn't help filtering out what's actually new.

As for the bundles, some are like what you describe, but at least this time, some have fixed discounts per title independent of the number of games one selects, and that's a nice change.

IDPLAY: Is Sim City 4 being cheaper than Sim City 3000 a pricebug?
Hard to tell with both not being all that old on GOG.
avatar
Glaucos: It's cheaper because Sim City 4 has been on Gog for ages. Sim City 3000 was just re-released some months ago (or even less, I don't remember).
SimCity 4 is still more expensive for me:

SimCity 3000: full price $9.99, sale price $4.99
SimCity 4: full price $19.99, sale price $7.99

I'm curious, what are your prices?

I know that some new titles must be being added to the sale, because one of the games on my wishlist was not on sale yesterday, but it is discounted today. I do wish though I could see what new titles are are being added to the sale each day, even if they're not on my wishlist. Anyway, hope this bit of info is helpful to you. :)

How come the activision bundle goes to a 0% discount when I try to buy it all? Has this been discussed already?

mecharma: We know about this issue guys and are working on it!

It's 2% in my case. It looks fair enough for me :)

I think you may have better luck with the "Recently Added" tab. For some reason, the "New and Notable" tab seems to be more like another highlights tab.

Regarding the bundles, I kind of like the build your own ones providing it's a reasonable number (15 Square Enix? 15?). The overall discount fluctuations are due to differing max discounts on the games, especially newer ones. For example, if I select all the Ultima games from the EA RPG bundle, I see an average discount of 84%. If I add in Dragon Age: Origins, the overall discount drops to 77%. I'm still getting 84% off the Ultima games, but the max discount of 66% off DA:O (which would have been 50% if I didn't have at least 5 games selected) will drag the average discount down.
Crypt of the Necrodancer DLC were all 66% discounted yesterday. I've added them to my cart and wanted to purchase them later and now they're suddenly back to full price. Not cool, GOG!
There seems to be a minor bug with the unlockable games. The Shadowrun Dragonfall was not unlockable at 15000 points, but required 15100 points. Nothing that wasn't fixed for me by waiting a day more, but might be troublesome for someone on the last day of the sale.

I believe that's how it functioned during previous sales as well (that you have to exceed the exp requirement) so I consider it an intentionally misleading sales tactic rather than a bug. But it's GOG so you never really know for sure... ;)

mecharma: Oversight -- fixed now :)
Is the absence of discount on Legend of Grimrock an oversight, too? I can understand (though I don't like it :P ) when sequels are not discounted; but in this case, the second one has a 66% off discount.

(It's also the same case with the Avadon and the Gothic series.)

Awww, I missed the much higher discount of SimCity 4 in the EA bundle because I already own the game.

Did I mention that I hate the bundles with different discounts for the individual games? :P
