zeogold: Tell you what, as much as I doubt it's correct, I'll copy off your guess with green, since, to be honest, I don't care much about the prize, I'm mainly here just for the unique forum puzzle idea.
Final guess:

Blue, green, purple, red, yellow, red.

If ZFR's logic is correct, at least one of us should win.
You might want to post again in correct format. (guess, blank line...).

However yours is not correct. It doesn't fit with guess 5 for example.

zeogold: Blue, green, purple, red, yellow, red.

helpo1: Can't be. You'd get 1 black at #1. Green at second position.

pavo.gog: Guess: purple green aqua purple black blue
Answer: 0 black, 3 white

That's what I thought, but eh, that's fine. Already said, I'm in it just for the fun of it. Also, I forgot to mention it in my post, but I didn't want to edit it and seem shady: If I win, give it to ZFR.

ZFR: blue aqua purple red yellow red

Let's try this
Yep, this was second answer I was talking about. So this is most probably the correct answer :)
>_> I was playing around with the combinations and I was going to post, but then I realised I ended up settling on the same answer as ZFR D:

Pipped at the post by ZFR again :o
I have exactly four possible combinations remaining.

One of which is ZFR's guess.

I haven't double-checked yet, though.
Purple

Since more than 2 people have posted inbetween, rules says it's okay to make a 2nd suggestion...

Somewhat confused by this game, though I've never played the original boardgame, so guess it's bound to happen
THE SOLUTION HAS BEEN FOUND, THE GAME IS OVER.

Lots of activity here recently.

ZFR is right, gratulation. Here's the final overview ("*" = black, "+" = white):

My colors: blue aqua purple red yellow red

1. purple+ green aqua+ purple black blue+ : 0 black, 3 white

2. yellow+ purple+ green red* blue+ aqua+ : 1 black, 4 white

3. green purple+ red+ yellow+ white aqua+ : 0 black, 4 white

4. blue* yellow green blue yellow* aqua+ : 2 black, 1 white

5. blue* yellow+ purple* red* green purple : 3 black, 1 white

It took less guesses than expected. Next time it will be "Mastermind Form & Color", should keep you busy some more time ... maybe around easter. :)

@ZFR: You should tell me three games you would like. Please post the GOG URLs here or send them via chat. I'll send the code within the next 24 hours ... just before christmas.

I hope everyone had fun, merry christmas to all, see you next time...

pavo

PS: For the record: MD5("my MasterMind colors: blue, aqua, purple, red, yellow, red.") = 8BFAA47EB6CA3823CD0D06539071C52F.

Double checked just now and confirmed that ZFR's was the only correct answer, only to find it had already been confirmed by a higher power. Well done, ZFR!

Thanks for the puzzle, Pavo, that was interesting!
Thanks for the fun Giveaway.

And congratz to ZFR.
Nicely done! Now that I look back, I understand why he was right. Congrats! This was a pretty good idea for a giveaway, the only thing I suggest next time is having everybody vote on a combination to guess rather than just take them as they come. Not saying it's going to happen, but you could get trolls (or people just not paying attention) who will insert a color in a spot where nobody wants it because everybody knows it's wrong.

I thought about that. It should work as a cooperative game, so I selected this way. Next time (whenever that is), there would be no final guesses. Everybody who participated would be put on a list and when the game is solved, someone from that list would be randomly selected as a winner ... or it works completely different ... I'll see.

pavo.gog: THE SOLUTION HAS BEEN FOUND, THE GAME IS OVER.
Thank you. I used to play this a lot as a kid. 6 colours, 4 pegs (6 guesses), no colour duplicates, but we used a slightly different colour convention: white peg = on correct position, no peg = present but not in position, black peg = not present.

For the games, 2 from my wishlist:
https://www.gog.com/game/age_of_wonders_3_eternal_lords
https://www.gog.com/game/age_of_wonders_3_golden_realms

And for the third one I'll pick the sequel of a great strategy, part 1 of which I'm yet to play:
https://www.gog.com/game/empire_earth_2_gold
So, officially:

Congrats to {TheLuckyPerson==ZFR} and thanks, as previously mentioned, to {TheGiveawayPerson==pavo.gog}. :)
Damn, it's been won already?

Well done ZFR (should have known you'd get it, with the puzzle giveaways you do), and all the others who figured it out.

Thanks for the giveaway pavo, it was fun :)

Maybe more colours / spaces next time? (though shapes would be an interesting addition to, not played it like that before)
fun game thanks pavo
