How does your combination give 3B 1W on guess 5?

5. guess: blue yellow purple red green purple

Answer: 3 black, 1 white

I agree there're probably two reds, though. Two reds, blue, yellow, purple and X - either green or aqua.

Um...correct me if I'm wrong here, but doesn't a black peg indicate that something is both the correct color and the correct position? If that's the case, I'm afraid that, considering the last guess, you've just tragically lost.

It's fairly apparent. Trust the Puzzlemaster's knowledge. Just look at guesses 2 and 3:

yellow purple green red blue aqua
Answer: 1 black, 4 white

green purple red yellow white aqua
Answer: 0 black, 4 white

The only colors that are in this solution are yellow, red, purple, blue, and green, one of them repeating, in some order which I can't quite suss out yet.

I'm not really sure Green can't be Aqua. But just like I said, we'll see.

The more I look at ZFR's post, the more I think it's correct.

Thanks. I'll admit I "cheated" a bit, and did some brute force on all remaining combinations (that last 3B one does lots of eliminations). It seems my answer is the *only* possible one, but I could easily have made a mistake since I did it in a hurry. We'll see.

Tell you what, as much as I doubt it's correct, I'll copy off your guess with green, since, to be honest, I don't care much about the prize, I'm mainly here just for the unique forum puzzle idea.
Final guess:

Blue, green, purple, red, yellow, red.

If ZFR's logic is correct, at least one of us should win.
