I grew up on this game (we used to call it "logik"). Still have the "original" version, 6x4x10.

Nor me! I read it through, and then looked at a bunch of physical versions of the game, and promptly forgot what I'd read. Sorry, too.

So far, I have:
Exactly one purple.
Exactly one yellow.
Exactly one of the following colors occurs twice: green, aqua, red
At most one blue.

Could be off, of course. I've already demonstrated that I'm not paying careful attention!

Answer: 3 black, 1 white

I also own two physical versions. It's called "Superhirn" ("Mastermind") in Germany. One version is a classic one (five rows) and the other one allows a combination of colors and forms (circle, square, triangle, ...) and black/white/blue pins are used to answer. It's decades ago since I played these. :)

We also know it's impossible to have black or white.

Guess 2 shows that of the 6 colours:
red blue green aqua purple yellow
5 are correct and 1 is wrong.

Guess 1 shows that if black was correct, then 2 of (blue green aqua purple) are wrong. This contradicts Guess 2, therefore black is wrong.

Guess 3 shows that if white was correct, then 2 of (green aqua red purple yellow) are wrong. This contradicts Guess 2, therefore white is wrong.

Hope the above is clear (and I didn't make a mistake anywhere).

So there is no use guessing black or white now.

I was a little behind and see that what I wrote about black and white was already implied. But didn't want to edit my post since it already contained a guess.

Anyway, the 4 points above are correct.
