Pyromancer138: As far as I know,2K will not bring those games here,at least for the moment.
Judging by the trailer, it only has Steam and EGS logos so... Yeah not anytime soon.
Just wondering if they're gonna give the games for free for people who already have them on Steam. I think they might for II and III as they're more recent. But the first one seems to be a remake, so that one might be a no.
Well if they properly remaster Mafia I it would be nice.
Mafia 2 is imho fine as it is and aged good enough.
And well Mafia 3 would need a total rework i guess to become good - i sadly bought the Goty but even with huge pauses in between i still did not manage to finish it nor do i have the urge to do it anytime soon
remakes are lame, I prefer playing the original how it was intended to be.

I own the original, so that's not a problem for me there. Can always run that version.

I'd still like a remake/rework of the original M1, though. Certainly, it could use better graphics, lighting, shadows, performance, and things of the "quality of life" sort.

FulVal: If i try to search it manually into microsoft store nothing happen...

TheMonkofDestiny: Yes, it seems as though it was removed from public view. It didn't have a great deal of info, aside from the date I mentioned and the title featuring "definitive" in it.
Only Mafia II page is removed

Both go to "not found" placeholders now. The Mafia: Definitive page was the only one up at the time I originally posted it but I see now Eurogamer updated further and seems fairly confident that the definitive edition of II will arrive potentially next week.

The above article has some images and a trailer stuck into it.

When remakes hit, in the past, we have lost access to the originals. Why is no one Bhitting Sricks that this might happen here?

I love the Mafia games, I'm SUPER excited at how 1 looks now <3 beyond psyched for it... when i can buy it on GOG ;)

I'll be annoyed if it's not included with the remaster here, because I never got around to getting it here, but I have it on Steam so it's not the end of the world. It will suck if it's another Doom 3 or Deus Ex HR though, where the superior original version seems to be destined to be a delisted Steam game.

Maybe the remaster will be good though, stranger things have happened.
Agreed that it will be bad news if the originals are delisted. That is the only thing I can applaud regarding the recent Commandos' remake/remaster.

With Mafia and Mafia II being some of my favorite games of all time I'm interested in these remasters... but... Hangar 13 doing them doesn't instill me with a lot of confidence. Sure there are a few former 2K CZECH members at Hangar 13, but they weren't enough to save Mafia III from being a muddled, repetitive, technical step backward (in many ways) from 2.

Still, I'm interested and will look at I and II day one.

Because that's already happened years ago. GOG does not offer the original version of Mafia 1, and nor has it ever. GOG has only ever offered a heavily-butchered version of Mafia 1, which is vastly inferior to the original & unbutchered version.

Are there any aspects that can't be "turned on" from the game files? Last time I played Mafia I was on PS2 so I'm legitimately asking... I'd thought all of the GOG version changes were basically just "hidden" elements.

Some people have un-butchered their GOG version by using unofficial mods, which I believe add back files that the GOG version cut out of the game.

Well rights holders, loosing the license to music, you have to comply.. Grand Theft Auto's fell into this. Its not butchering to keep it legal. But yes you can add it all back without issue, its pretty easy and painless to do.

FYI to anyone that cares there is MASSIVE mod for Mafia that pretty much makes the game look and play amazing 3.21GB of awesome textures quests and rebuilt everything its such a fantastric little gem of a modpack.
