te_lanus: works here without a problem.
Also on Debian testing? I see it hangs on "Refreshing PlayOnLinux" message in the UI. It never goes away.

Gydion: Entry looks good, thanks. One thing, well two, did you have CSMT enabled (not that the game needs it)? The (x86), while fine, isn't required. 64-bit, if used, is required to be listed.
You're welcome. :-) This was my first time writing such a report, so all feedback (positive or negative) matters.
I did not enable CSMT -according to its wiki on Github, it's disabled by default and I did not use winecfg at all, so it wasn't enabled -but, as you said, this game is old enough so that it wouldn't need CSMT anyways.

nope Ubuntu :D

Wine version(s) tested: Wine 2.1-1 via PlayOnLinux
avatar
Gydion: Is this actually a Staging engine?
Nope, there's no Wine 2.1 Staging so far.
avatar
JudasIscariot: I actually ran a regression test from Wine 2.0 to 1.7.24 and nothing came up, I tried rebuilding 1.9.3 and nothing changed. Only when I went back and downloaded version 1.7.24 from Arch's wayback archive did the game display the graphics properly.
avatar
Gydion: If you build 1.7.24 yourself does it work or is it only that old Arch build that's compiled with some static libs?
If I build it myself by just using the make command, it doesn't work. If I install that particular version for Arch, it works.

Oh and I even went to Wine 1.8 via Arch and that too doesn't work so I have no idea where the regression lies...

Gydion: Are those known issues under Windows? Believe there have been some mouse accel problems in the past.
There seems to be a few mouse-related issues with this game, yes.

avatar
Gydion: Also, minor style quibble: extra comments are fine, but if you could put them at the end of the post instead of the beginning...
Fair deuce, I've just removed the comments from my posts. Also, thanks for the Eador fullscreen tip! :)

immi101: there seems to be an unofficial Linux port of the game:

Thanks! Will try it later.

rampancy: I realize I was thinking about the issues referenced on the GOG forums in these threads:

https://www.gog.com/forum/bad_mojo_redux/running_bad_mojo_redux_in_linux
https://www.gog.com/forum/bad_mojo_redux/oblig_does_it_work_in_wine_thread

But if those problems have been all cleared up, then there's no reason for me not to buy it at the current sale price!
Yeah, I guess it'd be a good idea to check the dedicated forum before buying a non-Linux game. In my case I just checked WineHQ and since I saw a Platinum rating I bought it straight away. :)
Does STAR WARS™ REBELLION work in Wine? Thanks!

EDIT: according to WineHQ not, but there is CD version, not gog.com version

I've tried that game with one of the earlier WINE 2.0-rc builds, and the game for the most part works. The problem is that tactical combat crashes the game. (See https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=16149)
Game: Mount & Blade
Installer MD5: 7a7f2d6f8bef35a9b8df39d80f0e30b4 setup_mount_and_blade_2.0.0.4.exe
WineHQ AppDB link: https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=14670

Distro: Arch Linux 64 bits
Kernel version: 4.9.7-1
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650
Graphics driver & version: Proprietary, v375.26
Wine version tested: Wine v2.1 Staging (without CSMT enabled)

Installation: Without issue on a clean 32-bit prefix, except for the usual runtime error messages at the end. Had to install the d3dx9_43 and d3dcompiler_43 DLLs with winetricks in order for the character shadows to render properly.

How well does it run: Seemingly perfect (though I only played the tutorial and a proper game for about 15 minutes)

muntdefems: Game: Mount & Blade

How well does it run: Almost perfect, except for the character shadows, that looked like in the attached image no matter what I tried (DirectX 7 or DirectX 9, different shadow quality, shaders on or off...)
Strange, I had no such problems with shadows on NVIDIA, might be new error in Wine 2.0, or graphics drivers or some other stuff?
Game: Pid
Installer MD5: 02ebb3db7572b1e6c28dce439a76df9a setup_pid_2.2.0.8.exe
WineHQ AppDB link: https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=30054

Distro: Arch Linux 64 bits
Kernel version: 4.9.7-1
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650
Graphics driver & version: Proprietary, v375.26
Wine version tested: Wine v2.0 Staging (without CSMT)

Installation: Without issue on a clean 32-bit prefix, except for the usual runtime error messages at the end.

How well does it run: Perfect, except for controller support (but your mileage may vary, as I own a shitty XBox360 clone controller that rarely works with any Windows game on Wine)

Could be a driver issue. How difficult is it to try older drivers or even nouveau for testing?

Also, out of time. Will likely update some hours from now.

Problems with POL are related to updates in netcat-openbsd: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=852765

Related: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=849192

It was introduced in the recent netcat-openbsd (1.130). It will eventually hit downstream distros like Mint and others naturally.

I'll check if POL can be manually patched to work around it.

UPDATE: Yep, I fixed it. You need to replace nc -q to nc -N in /usr/share/playonlinux/lib/setupwindow.lib

Game: Rayman 2 - The Great Escape
Installer MD5: 776e8f0a927098bb163793540b525519 setup_rayman2_2.1.0.39.exe
WineHQ AppDB link: https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=4975
CodeWeavers link: https://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/crossover/rayman-2-the-great-escape

Distro: Arch Linux 64-bit
Kernel version: 4.9.6-1 Zen
Graphics card: Nvidia GeForce GT 240M
Graphics driver & version: Proprietary 340.101-10
Wine version(s) tested: Wine 2.1 via PlayOnLinux

Install notes: It may show error at the end of GOG installation but ignore it.

How well does it run: Perfectly

Details:
* While launching the screen will flicker for a while. Do not touch anything until the Ubisoft logo pops up. This does not happen while running in virtual desktop.

* When using an Xbox controller, Rayman will be locked into combat mode. Holding down the Left Trigger will return back to normal. This does not happen while using the other controller such as DualShock 4.

*Tested the 1st level of the game.

I was using the same driver for the Arch version of Wine 1.7.24 and 2.0/2.1, though. As for switching drivers in Arch...I am not sure.
