Game: Unreal 2: The Awakening Special Edition
Installer MD5: 3b157d88da108e4cea15b1d35ff06c5a setup_unreal2_se_2.0.0.5.exe
WineHQ AppDB link: https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=1306
CodeWeavers link: https://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/crossover/unreal-ii-the-awakening

Distro: Linux Mint 17.3 Cinnamon 64bit
Kernel version: 3.19.0-58
Graphics card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 750Ti
Graphics driver & version: Proprietary 367.27
Wine version(s) tested: Wine Staging 1.9.13 via PlayOnLinux, CrossOver 15.1.0

Install notes: After installing the game, remove the .con files from the Music directory - if this isn't done then the game will crash.
Requires UseGLSL set to disabled or there will be stuttering & some rendering issues
If using PlayOnLinux, run the game from/create a shortcut for "Unreal2.exe"
How well does it run: Quite well
Details: Tested with virtual desktop and CSMT enabled - setting "Automatically capture the mouse in full-screen windows" was required. Have only played for a short while but seems to run ok. Sometimes causes the display brightness to get messed up as for Unreal & Unreal Tournament (and when this happens it's corrected the same way), but not always.

Wine version(s) tested: Wine Staging 1.9.13 via PlayOnLinux, CrossOver 15.1.0

Install notes: Install & play.
If using PlayOnLinux, run the game from/create a shortcut for "UT2004.exe"
How well does it run:
Details: Have only tested for a short while. Like Unreal 2, this game sometimes (but not always) modifies the display brightness and fails to reset it on exiting; to reset it back to normal just open NVIDIA X Server Settings (have not tested to see if this problem also occurs on systems with AMD GPUs). Tested with virtual desktop and CSMT enabled - setting "Automatically capture the mouse in full-screen windows" was required.

Native Linux port
As with Unreal and UT99, there is a native Linux port available. Details can be found here: http://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Unreal_Tournament_2004

I needed to add some libraries to get it to run (libopenal as "openal.so", SDL1.2) and needed to install libstdc++5
Game: Deus Ex GOTY

Graphics card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 750Ti
Graphics driver & version: Proprietary 367.27
Wine version(s) tested: Wine Staging 1.9.13 via PlayOnLinux, CrossOver 15.1.0

Install notes: After installing the game, install "Deus Exe" v6.2 from http://kentie.net/article/dxguide/
and the OpenGL renderer from http://www.cwdohnal.com/utglr/
If using PlayOnLinux, start the game from/create shortcut for "deusex.exe"
How well does it run: Almost perfect
Details: As with Unreal & UT99, this game alters the desktop brightness/contrast and doesn't reset it on exit; running the "NVIDIA X Server Settings" tool after playing fixes this. Original .exe has a habit of crashing on start sometimes (didn't test much with the original .exe beyond starting the game) but this doesn't seem to happen with Deus Exe. Aside from that the game appears to run perfectly. Tested with virtual desktop and CSMT enabled. If running the game with virtual desktop enabled (did not test without), you must also set "Automatically capture the mouse in full-screen windows".
So! Any word on Parkan running in WINE? The AppDB entry for the game suggests it may work.
Can anyone give system shock demo a try? I got Chinese error message when I tried last night. I'm interested to give it a try but I don't have windows box

I get the Unity Personal Edition logo but then the screen just remains white after the logo disappears. I suspect the following fixmes are part of the problem:

fixme:d3d11:d3d11_immediate_context_OMSetBlendState Per-rendertarget blend not implemented.
fixme:d3d11:d3d11_immediate_context_OMSetBlendState Color mask > 3 not implemented.

Ah. Dx11. Thanks. At least I know now I don't have to waste time tinkering with it

Hopefully those features will get implemented soon :)

Nice :)
Hopefully it will arrive soon although I wouldn't mind they are taking their time ensuring code quality

Nope, can't get it to run :P

the game comes up with a MCICD error, and trying to install the Codec as per AppDb instructions doesn't work under 1.9.13, it get's to looking for netscape and hangs there

Did you try installing WMP9 in winetricks first?

Also, I've had success installing the Indeo Video codec by using a Custom installation, and turning off the Indeo Video Web Browser plugin. The installer always chokes up on Ivfsrc.ax, but as noted in the comments on the WineDB entry that apparently is fixed if you install WMP9 first.
Thank you so much for the list of games that run. I usually run everything through PlayOnLinux because I'm too lazy to make separate environments manually.

So here's my update on Parkan. I've learned more about this game and its issues here: http://spacesimcentral.com/ssc/topic/2334-parkan-the-imperial-chronicles/page-6

First, the MCICD error, is, I think, related somehow to the game not properly recognizing the CD that it's supposed to have for the soundtrack. Now, instead of a CD, GOG seems to have instead put the music in a folder that the game is supposed to recognize. I haven't had the chance to try it out yet, but perhaps fiddling around with drive assignments in winecfg might get things to work.

There is supposedly a no-cd patched executable out there for the game, but the download seems to be dead.

If it's anything like some other GOG.com games with a similar arrangement, you'll need a wine built with this patch from wine bug #37983 and to add an override for winmm.dll. Wine-staging may already have the patch. Crossover does. PlayOnLinux maybe.
