Did you know that Arch support is planned for ./play.it, and should go live in something like one month from now? ;-)
We have Amadren, a fellow GOGlodyte, to thanks for that!
Yeah, Antergos is basically easy mode Arch as it uses nothing but their official repos :)

Do keep me posted on Arch support :)

Raiden IV: OverKill
WINE 1.9.3 Mint 17.3

The game appears to install vc 2012 and vc 2013 so you may want to use the appropriate winetricks. I didn't use any and the game ran fine but I figured it was worth mentioning.

Issues:

In terminal I receive a "INFO: Create directory failed! C" for whatever reason. The game has several resolution options but I was not able to make it go full screen. I was also getting some sound stuttering here and there while in the menu and in the game and no, this was not pcm_underrun related.

I haven't really tried tweaking it by changing WINE to Windows 7 mode or emulating a virtual desktop or even playing around with overrides. If you want controller support you should get the proper DLL and an Xpadder profile if you are using an XInput controller. That said, the game is quite playable but appears to need tweaks in order to enjoy it fully.

If the certificat you get is the same than the one on the attached screenshot, you can add a security exception for it.

In the very unlikely case that some information differs between the infos on my screenshot and the ones you get when trying to reach my website, you might be the target of a "man in the middle" attack.

Distro: Mac OS X El Capitain 10.11.4
Kernel version: Darwin 15.4.0 (Build 15E65)
Graphics card: Intel HD Graphics 5000
Graphics driver & version: OS Default
Wine version(s) tested: wine-staging 1.9.8, WINE 1.9.8 via Wineskin
Install notes: Install the following in winetricks:
dotnet20 (required for launcher)
directx9 d3dxof devenum quartz ffdshow vcrun2005 (without these, the game either will not start, or will crash on startup)
videomemorysize=512 (without this the game will crash and complain with "out of video memory" errors in the log)

To ensure that borders are drawn correctly, follow the steps here:

Make the following edits in the files "terrain_2_0.fx" and "borders_2_0.fx" in: your Europa\ Universalis\ III/gfx/FX/ -- replace the lines starting with: "float4 TerraIncognita =" with "float4 TerraIncognita = float4(0,0,0,0);"

You may need to make the following entry in regedit:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Wine/DirectSound/
(set "MaxShadowSize"="0")

Start the game using "eu3game.exe".

How well does it run: Almost perfectly (So far)
Details: Tested in fullscreen 1366 x 768, with all graphical options set to max. Everything seems to work as expected, including music, ambient sounds, and saving/loading games. The intro cutscene also does not play.

Seems to check out and I have two-step authorization turned on my account and different passwords for most critical things so I should be OK :)

Anyways, sorry for the hassle but I didn't know what I was looking at when I first saw the error so I thought I'd report it just in case :)

That’s a very good reaction ;-)
Web certificate handling is a mess even today, and your browser will howl in the same way when facing a certificate that is not signed by some arbitrary "authoritative" company (but still valid and secured), or when you’re really subject to an attack…

For a lot of people Let’s Encrypt (some kind of automatic certification by a group that browsers will recognize and accept, but without having to pay a company for the "service") is the solution, but for me it’s not because it still gives credit to the CA (Certification Authorities) model.

And before anyone asks, I do *not* know of a viable alternative (yet) ;-P

I just run Requiem: Avenging Angel using Wine 1.9.8-staging. The game kind of works (using glide / 3DFX executable). But there are glitches in the HUD. DX executable fails miserably.
Post edited April 19, 2016 by shmerl
Is GOG release already patched to 1.3? Because when running DX version, it complains about DX 6.1, while patch 1.3 is supposed to use DX 8.

JudasIscariot: For me, Requiem does not run at all when using Direct3d or 3dfx modes. Crashes on launch.
I get better results (glide mode works) but the HUD is borked.

I got a bunch of Wine messages like this:

It's also recommended to set "emulate virtual desktop" to avoid major resolution messes during switching (then intro and game menu will run in windowed mode, and the rest in fullscreen).

Situation with the HUD gets slightly better when active screen is decreased (pressing minus button). Then HUD isn't being overwritten by the screen. But it's not a good workaround. I'll report this to Wine bug tracker.

Crusader Kings Complete
State: Good without working Intro video

Linux Mint 17.3 Rosa
Kernel: 3.19.0-32-generic x86_64 (64 bit)
Card: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD/ATI] Curacao XT [Radeon R7 370 / R9 270X/370 OEM]
GLX Renderer: AMD Radeon R9 200 Series
GLX Version: 4.5.13416 - CPC 15.302
WINE: Wine Staging 1.9.8

From Winetricks I already had following installed: d3dx9_36 and vcrun 2010 - don't know if that was needed or not.

Intro video doesn't show but you can hear the music. Clicking on ESC makes the game load menu screen but its misaligned to the righ side of the screen in full HD resolution. Clicking on the desktop (left side where the menu screen is missing) makes it minimize the game and when you click on the game tab it maximizes the game properly in to right resolution. After that there are no issues and the game is stable and works perfectly.

Does installing quartz help any with the videos?
