Used the custom-made Wineskin wrapper and custom-patched WINE (1.9.x) engine available here:
http://community.playstarbound.com/threads/wineskin-wrapper-for-mac.108737/

(More details on the engine patches here: http://community.playstarbound.com/threads/mac-osx-wineskin-attempts.106850/page-5

The following were installed in winetricks: directx9, dotnet40, msxml3, xna40; The game runs perfectly so far (including saving/loading games); the only issue so far is the menu bar being visible in fullscreen mode.
Linux specific info.
AppDB entry [db:+]

If you prefer you can add a separate post with this info, but I wanted something linked to both your post & the other thread. The shit forum auto merge wasn't helping anything either (Thanks GOG).

JudasIscariot: Would you care to share this ini?
Sure, but I don't know if it works with a current version of x360ce. I'm also not entirely sure what makes the ProductGUID/InstanceGUID values. They might be dynamic and depend on the plug-in order for all I know. I think I picked those out from the output of wine ran with the environment variable WINEDEBUG=+dinput set.

This is what I usually use, along with a single Xbox One pad and the improved xpad.ko ported from SteamOS. The configuration for a wired x360 pad looks to be the same apart from the label ("Xbox One pad") which is probably insignificant. For the dual controller setup I have another named section that I point to with PAD2= under Mappings.

Install Notes: Install directx9 and d3dx9_43 in winetricks
How Well Does It Run: Almost perfectly (play tested only in the starting area)
Details:
Used the wine-staging 1.9.5 engine (from the Porting Team forums) in Wineskin. The following were installed in winetricks: directx9, d3dx9_43.dll; The game runs perfectly so far (including saving/loading games); keyboard input, changing resolutions, applying graphical filters and the music all run without any problems. This game was until very recently almost unplayable in WINE due to Bug #31899; the patch that solves this issue is AFAIK only in wine staging.

Install notes: More or less simply install & play - no need to install any additional libraries etc.
If using PlayOnLinux, start the game from/create shortcut for "AssassinsCreed_Dx9.exe"
How well does it run: Quite well
Details:
Have played for a few hours, framerates appear to be ok & there are no obvious issues at least. Tested at 1920x1200 with virtual desktop and CSMT enabled. If running the game with virtual desktop enabled, you must also set "Automatically capture the mouse in full-screen windows".

How well does it run: Perfectly, most of the time
Details: Tested with virtual desktop enabled, have played through the first mission without issue. Runs perfectly most of the time, but sometimes crashes with the error: "The instruction at <address1> referenced memory at <address2>. The memory could not be written". So far this only seems to happen when the game tries to get to the main menu.

Ooh, neat-o. I hope it won't take too long until this trickles into the regular stable Wine engine release. I'll try to give that a go tonight. :)

I honestly don't know what the difference is between either of the two versions in that post; I used the one linked here: https://mega.nz/#!65RSiZQR!WGPAqsIZIHHbQkKdjW_O8mAKJEmot-3DmK3p7-VeW80

How well does it run: Perfectly
Details: Tested at 1920x1200 with virtual desktop and CSMT enabled, max settings. Have fully played through the base game without issue, have only briefly tested the expansions but no problems with those so far (and given that the base game runs perfectly it's unlikely they'll have issues)

Initial tests with regular Wine 1.9.6 for Grim Dawn have proven to be ineffective. Also, here's the AppDB entry for Grim Dawn: https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=29162

With that in mind I am currently waiting for wine-gallium-nine to finish compiling before I make a proper report since I would like to see if I have to do all that nasty registry editing :/

I don't think It should be needed as long as you have the 20160311 winetricks or master (which is currently the same).

I have that installed, tried the registry hack listed in that AppDB entry and I still couldn't get the game to work under regular Wine 1.9.6.

Wine-gaming-nine which is basically Wine 1.9.5-staging with the Gallium patches and some other patches added in.

In any case, the game works fine under Wine-1.9.5-staging with CSMT enabled. I need to try some tweaks and run the game under my i3 window manager as GNOME3 eats up a lot of memory and this is quite a demanding game :)

It is working, but the mouse doesn't function when used to move your sight around, thus not really that playable. (tested with virtual desktop on and off, and winecfg's "Automatically capture the mouse in full screen windows" doesn't help)

Tested with:

Distro: Linux Mint 17.3 Rosa Desktop: Cinnamon 2.8.6
Kernel: 3.19.0-32-generic i686 (32 bit)

GLX Renderer: GeForce GT 240/PCIe/SSE2
GLX Version: 3.3.0 NVIDIA 340.96
Wine: 1.9.6 (which is suppose to be better for older games) no extra packages was installed (clean prefix).

Kernel version: 4.2.0-30-generic
Graphics card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 670
Graphics driver & version: Proprietary 352.63
Wine version(s) tested: Wine Staging 1.9.3

How well does it run:
Most of the time just fine, although there are a few places where it is extremely crash-prone. Save early and save often. I made a note that it is likely to crash soon whenever a talking arcade game is present. There is always one near the entrance to Plaid Mart, and at least one minigame in the Bilzarbra and Tilly storylines feature them. Sometimes the game also crashes after playing cinematics, even the intro ones.

For the longest time the characters were drawn all broken. This was wine bug #6955, finally closed in wine 1.7.47.

Details:
Supports a controller, but crashes immediately if more than one is attached of if the single controller is visible twice (as it is by default). So run wine control joy.cpl and disable either the event or the js interface. I wrote further tips on configuring the controller in this thread.
