Did you know that today is Mandatory Fun day?

On July 15, 2014, Weird Al Yankovic released his newest album, "Mandatory Fun". It went all the way up to #1 in the US on the Billboard 200 list. "Word Crimes", parody of "Blurred Lines" by Robin Thicke, peaked at #39 on the Billboard Hot 100. Mandatory Fun was also Al's last album under contract.

It is 1 year old today, so I think I'll celebrate by listening to the album later tonight. (while playing HoMM 3 or Terraria or something)

P.S.: I would have posted this in my old Weird Al Fan Club thread instead, but it became a victim of GOG's poorly thought-out thread archiving thing, and I didn't remember to rescue it, unfortunately.

Let's have some Stooner's Brew with that! :D
Turns out I am offski. See thee about maybe.
Damn I'm too late to have fun. Any beer left?

Got a call this afternoon from my father saying that his computer had shut down and would not turn on. I asked him to check the power cable but he said it could not be that because it worked earlier... Instead of trying to convince him to check it anyway I told him I would come over.

When I got there he told me he played with the cables and now it works. I bummed him a beer for the trouble and powered the computer on and off a few times while drinking it just to be sure. Now I'm back home. I didn't stay longer because he visited me yesterday and at the best of time we don't have much to talk about. I love him but we don't have much in common besides blood.

I am afraid that his power supply is going bad, we'll see how it goes in the next weeks.

Getting out could only do me good anyway (as long as I did not cross teenagers), my anxiety level is a bit high.

Its cool that you could help him, at least for now. Technology like computers tends to freak out older folks when it acts up. The usual goto products of yesteryear (Wd40, Vaseline, pipe cleaners, duct tape) rarely help. ;) When my Mom's devices act up, she just walks up and hands them to me and expects me to fix it. lol

Nice that you could help him, but keep also an eye on the Elkos of the Mainboard this is more often
the cause for random starting nonstarting PC and willl end in a full damage of Mainboard sooner then later.
If power supply is bad my experience is its either completely finished or ok.

So... My grandfather passed away Friday, we buried him Monday, and today Grandma moved to a new place. Been pretty stressful, I'll be honest.

If I had one piece of advice to give you fellow hermits, it's to let the ones you love know you love them, because you always think you have more time until all of a sudden you don't.

Sincere condolences, Leu. Loosing loved ones is the worst part of life. Take care.

Thanks. I know I don't always portray myself as a sensitive kind of guy, but I'm really at a loss these days, literally.

Been there with my mother, I really sympathize.
Your advice is good, I think I see my father more often now than when I lived with him and my mother.

Life's too short to spend it pissed off all the time. I think that's the lesson I learned.
My dad brought me his computer to fix. He's had it for at least 5 years and it's never been opened so I expected that the first thing I would need to do is blow out the dust. The damn thing is near completely dust free, the only dust is on the cpu fan and there is less than on tablet that hasn't been dusted in three days.

You got lucky. Since I stopped smoking cigarettes, my pc only needs to be cleaned every 4-6 months instead of every 4-6 weeks. (I use a vaporizer these days)

I'm assuming he's a non smoker based on your comments.
