Hello Hermits. Just popping in to find my loincloth. I apparently lost it while streaking during bday celebrations...
Happy belated birthday Leu, hope everything went good and well like I had last week :)

Is this just me or everyone also having issue error 500 with GOG site (browser) since Galaxy beta?
I RETURN!!!!!

...but what... is... that... smell?

- Did somebody forget to turn the hose on the Colonel again?! O___________o!~

Same here. Add the regular GOG bears over the last few weeks and the general lagging, I'd say the site is in its worst shape ever (inaccessibilities during big sales aside). It seems there's no proper quality assurance and testing to control the web team's work. Their application design is badly optimized for a long time now (lagging game shelf, search, overall website response, etc.) All issues, QA should have checked before going public or rather identifying them during design phase, that is even before implementation. I wonder what the upcoming new Account area will bring, but I'm not very optimistic.

Sachys: On that note, need to find myself the means to get ahold of windows tomorrow.

Gydion: Win 7? That's assuming you have access to some working system. Otherwise, good luck.
Having (finally) gotten the creaky OLD OLD laptop online, that damned link is telling me that as my win 7 installation came preinstalled, im shit out of luck and they wont support it.

So... any LEGIT way to get a win 7 install offsite?! - googling only brings up that digital river thing, but that seems shut down for win 7 etc now (well, here at least).

Ideas anyone?!

Also, thanks again for yer help everyone over the last couple of weeks!

Neither am I - though the site works 50% of the time with Galaxy right now for me - and in my situation thats better than a kick in the coconuts! O________o

Did you use the product key from the sticker on the back of your laptop and which version of Windows 7 was installed before?

YARP - win 7 home premium 64 bit.

says its unsupported due to it being preinstalled (link only supports "retail").

Last time I needed one that digital river thing was still working. I don't know of another offhand.

You may want to install Linux Mint (<i>Cinnamon</i>) on it in the meantime if it winds up taking a while to get a Win 7 disc.

Yeah, I missed that the first time. You can always ask HP, but I don't think they offer downloads.

Yeah, I just confirmed that recovery link is for retail only. It seems that Microsoft has stopped providing Windows 7 ISO images directly to the public which were hosted by Digital river, Microsoft’s official content delivery partner for Windows 7.

But I found the link to a German mirror site which backed up some of the official Digital river Windows 7 ISO files through this website. So the following is probably your best bet for acquiring a legit download of Windows 7.

they do - but on inputting my product # only an old, obscure model shows up. only other thing they have is a link to digital river.

what is the linux build like? (never used linux so no ideas o0n that front - and need photoshop cs3 to run smoothly for realtime brushstrokes - which it allegedly does not in linux O____o)

cheers - any suspect reports on this guy - or does it seem to be a non-legit backup to legit quality?

Hmm....he does have the msdn-links containing proof of sha1-sums for the iso files but it would most probably be confirmed after downloading it. The fact that he is asking to verify after download does give the files credibility I think. :)

Well, its worth a try - my mate (works for a large corp here as their head of IT suggested a similar route after:
"It's a bit of a twat - OEM keys 'die with the hardware', so once you have a hardware failure like disk or motherboard, you're supposed to cough up for another license.") - apparently I might have to ring microsoft after to get activated (freephone at least). Bloody bollocks it be!

I could almost acept them forcing me to "upgrade" to win 8 or summat - but simply not offering the download with a key they have said is still valid is utter shit

I'll let you know how it goes - unless I become a Linux virgin and have to sacrifice to the mad lizard overlords! O_____k
