I figured as much. But I received some other feedback about its, well, nauseating palette, so I figured something like this would be better. :)
Resident Evil 5 and Dead Rising 2 drops Games for Windows Live in favor of Steamworks.

Moving from a shitty DRM to a less shitty one.

Well atleast people won't have to deal with the horrible Games for Windows Live software now. ;)

Yeah, I heard a long time ago that they were going to remove GFWL from Dark Souls but so far it still seems to be plagued with it.

Aye - that was before the company changed hands or something though. DAMMIT!

Thats a shame, I hope it will eventually get cleansed from GFWL because that is what has stopped me from buying it whenever I have thought about it.

it actually runs pretty much fine with it (I did have one case where it wiped my saves - but that was due to something else affecting it). the only issue is to make use of the passive multiplayer, you need to register the cd key with GFWL - and then it wipes any save data you have with the offline account. stupid stupid stupid!

Also: can the friggin' region lock be removed from Dark Souls?! I'd like to be able to buy it (game not avail in my country area for gods know what reason).

Well that is just absolutely ridiculous, no wonder even Microsoft doesn't care for GFWL despite claiming to still support it.

I would think if you got a copy traded it should work fine?! - certainly been the case when ive bought unavailable games for others in the past.
I confess that i never tried that. A bit of paranoia prolly due to constant disappointment with people?! From what i read gifted/traded games should activate, but there are also some that won't work gift/trade way. Should investigate. And i'm too much of a chicken to go VPN way.

P.S.: we don't get special treatment like our russian friends or the polish or some other Central/East Europe countries. So i don't get the restrictions. We can't buy from PSN or XBox Market either (unless VPN), so what's the point to buy a console if you can't access the services.....

Thats fucked up!

But yeah - see if next time theres something embargoed on sale dirt cheap, you cant trade a few bundle games with someone outside of Romania for it.

having a look at this during sales might be an idea (though it usually takes a couple of hours after a sale starts / changes to update). http://www.cheapshark.com/browse?storeID=0&sortBy=Price&onSale=1
Yeah, i'll try that. Though i'm one of the humble servants of the master bad luck. Murphy's laws seems to apply damn well to me:)

I usually use isthereanydeal.com. Did not know about the cheapshark site, so thanks for the link.
