The Xen levels are out of beta and is now live for everyone.

Black Mesa is now complete.
Yay!
Nice! Albeit, last time I played Black Mesa, I was a bit disappointed to learn that apparently they have adjusted the difficulty levels etc., like some enemies were made harder to kill etc. I would have preferred they had not touched the gameplay, unless something was completely broken in the original.
awesome news.

if only it also came here

But it's not meant to be a 1:1 purist style remake, but an enhanced(graphics/gameplay) near-purist remake. :)

(Also for those of us who want such, the originals[even the HD versions valve put out] are on steam for cheap & work great :))

Modified source engine.

According to the linked video the Gonarch fight takes 30-45 minutes in the remake. Sounds like a terrible idea tbh.

Maybe the one who played did so on a high difficulty or sucks at boss fights? :|

It only took me a few gameplay videos to realize that this game wasn't for me, takes way too many liberties from the original.

The whole thing is a bloated mess. Stay away.

(I wish I could be more positive about Black Mesa, it's very obviously a passion project and a lot of blood sweat and tears went into making it. It's just that the thing is no fun at all. And I'm not some hardcore purist who thinks that Half-Life is some flawless masterpiece, there's lots of things that could be improved. Instead, they turned the bad levels into great looking but aguably even worse levels and added all sorts of superfluous shit to the good levels that takes away from the experience. There is some cool stuff too, they really built on some of the concepts that aren't really explored in the original game when it comes to environmental storytelling. But unfortunately, it's just such a slog to play through, so I can't really recommend this to anybody. People who prefer HL2 to HL1 might be the closest thing Black Mesa has for a target audience.)
Black Mesa is an impressive reimagining but I have a hard time wanting to play it over the original. The biggest problem is its source material, no pun intended. Whereas Half-Life 2 was built around the source engine’s physics, shoehorning in physics on already irritating platform sections just makes it even more irritating to play.

Half life with blue shift’s higher resolution models is the best way to play in my opinion.
I got to play BMS around maybe 2016. It was a really good mod.

But can you even play the mod the way it was back then, they've messed with it so dang much??
