So, according to the ever adorable Schäuble, Debt is not sustainable without a restructuration but a restructuration would be illegal therefore fuck that.

The cynicism of these assholes.

But at least, the Syriza pressure (and the referendum) cornered them (Schäuble, Lagarde, Tusk, etc) into being all of a sudden completely explicit about the old open secret of debt unsustainability. So, there's that. That's one hypocrisy getting fissured.

I work in Gazprom and I'm pissed over the sanctions, which damage my company. We spend money on mitigating damage instead of increasing wages.
Ukrainians were the main force which ruined USSR. They took all weaponry USSR pulled of Eastern Germany and declared independence. For twenty years they lived from selling it to Africa (Ukraine is in top 10 weapon exporters in the world).
They had discounts on gas from Russia, purchased it with discount, then resell it to Europe without, difference leaved in Ukraine.
They fucked up everything USSR built for them. ZAZ plant, Yuzhmash, Motor sich.
From 16 factories, which provided 99% of their GDP 23 years of Ukrainian independence survived only one.
I HATE this country.

I think posting here on the GOG gaming site quite a lot and making such long statements who anyway not many people are going to read is not the typical signature of a paid troll. I think he is rather genuine than fake.

Surely Russia is the master of propaganda and surely there are thousands of Russians paid for praising the holy mother country but that doesn't mean that are genuine US haters in Russia.

In a way it is even sadder if nobody is paying him for saying what he says.

When we look at the current Greek offer then I don't think people in Greece will be all too happy when they see 90% of the measures they voted "no" on are back on the table, and this time nonnegotiable. ;)

Imo a clear sign Tsipras realized that failing this negotiation is not an option.

Also you can exit the Euro just fine, though nobody ever tried it, but that isn't the problem. The problem is making a new currency isn't something you can just magically do in a week when the population still hoards billions of € below pillows and when you as nation do not have any money printing machines (Yes, that is no joke, Greece does not HAVE money presses ,p). You'd create a black market currency which would undermine any new national currency....

If Greece really wanted to create a new currency it'd have to literally disown people of all € cash first. And there were rumors this was planned too. Ie, mandatory conversion of € both digital money and paper money. That'd be the only way Greece could "exit" the Euro imo.

This isn't needed. From my experience of living in country with default, multiple currencies can co-exist.
The more money would be printed, the less drachma would cost for exchange. But internal value =/= external value.

Greeks resurrect drachma, it seems.

Maybe, maybe not. That may have simply been that one of the four or more companies involved along the line decided to create a "temporary" form of in-house accounting for Greece-based transactions until the situation was clarified, and it just showed up on a bill when it wasn't meant to. The fact that the alleged "Drachma EQ" was at a 1:1 ratio with Euros makes that more likely.

I really don't get this funny Tsipras guy... The Cologne Institute for Economic Research (they're not exactly known for being left wingers) said that Tsipras' new reformation poposals even go further than the things that got a clear No from the Greeks last sunday. So... While everyone in Europe tries to figure out wether "No" meant "No, we don't want to pay back our debt and will leave the Euro" or "No, we can't bear more cost cutting, please be more reasonable!", Tsipras comes around the corner and tells us it was a "No, we want even more austerity!" o_O

Maybe Greece should start to export drugs!? Must be some very potent stuff...

Obviously that was not meant to imply all in Greece are hoarding money but even if it's just the upper 1%, that's still the population. Someone has those 90bn drained from Greek banks...

Framing it like this (while we still have to see what concessions, symbolic or not, if any, will be made to syriza - on the debt relief front, for instance) has two functions : 1° Reminding all countries that rebelling leads to even worse punishment. 2° Informing the anti-austerity voters that Syriza is "even worse" than ND.

As said earlier, several observers speculated that the EU demands were purposefully harsh in order to have syriza break down either by failing the negociations or by strongly betraying their promises. As things seem to take this second direction, it's the narrative that is now being capitalized on.

There are reasons to be anxous about the outcome of this strategy. People won't necessarily turn to ND or Potami...

I'm starting to lean towards calling him 'controlled opposition'. Scaring others from anti-austerity movements, or pushing them into resignation 'cause all politicians are the same'... or is this another social experiment? I mean, it's political suicide.

(Conspiracy) theories aside, when someone's back's against the wall, is he more likely to give in or turn to more radical options? I'd say the latter, but I suppose we'll see soon enough.
