Seriously, you are insulting everyone who legally buys games. LootHunter admits to rampant piracy of games. You seem to think you have a right to download any game you want if you find it on an illegal abandonware site. Both of you two thieves can go fuck yourselves. Neither of you have a right to the games you steal for free. Both of you are why there is DRM. Denuvo is the fault of both of you. Both of you are why developers do not want to provide their games DRM-free. You are the perfect examples of why most games will never come to GoG.

LOL It seems you are with the very corporations who blame piracy for every thing go wrong. Here is a newsflash for you - most companies don't sell their games on GOG for many other reasons than piracy.

A short post! Let's slice that into pieces.

Seriously, you are insulting everyone who legally buys games.
How can I insult myself?

You seem to think you have a right to download any game you want if you find it on an illegal abandonware site
Your problem is?

Both of you two thieves can go fuck yourselves.
And how will that benefit me?

Neither of you have a right to the games you steal for free.
There is a limit between being reasonable and being unreasonable. Unreasonable.

Both of you are why there is DRM.
Wrong.

Denuvo is the fault of both of you.
Wrong.

Both of you are why developers do not want to provide their games DRM-free.
Wrong.

You are the perfect examples of why most games will never come to GoG.
Wrong.

Any questions?
I think I have detailed every single thing you said in as much detail as can be. Now that you've been fed with the responses you expected from us, you can leave the thread now. HINT: You never changed anything. I will safely sleep with Captain Claw on my hard drive, regardless of your rhetoric about what's moral and what's not, what's legal and what's not. I will buy the games that do come on GOG just like usual. Nothing has changed with us getting abandonware games. Sayonara.

richlind33: ... Why do people like you allow yourselves to get sucked into the delusion that it's the "little fish" that are the pirates, not the "big fish"?

The "big fish" love to say that "democracy is two pigs and a wolf deciding who gets to be dinner", when it's patently obvious to anyone who values truth that they are deciding who *isn't* going to be for dinner.
I honestly don't understand what you want to tell me. It may be that your statements are a bit unrelated to the rest of the thread. Could you maybe give more concrete examples of what you mean and speak less metaphorically?

Probably none, but it does fart a new solar system every now and then.

Dogs and cats in America live better than most of the people in this world do, because a human life is worth less than a cheap microwave or a shitty movie -- and that is very seriously fucked up.

Why don't you pirate idiots leave the thread!

Did you see the thread about Chip's Challenge 2?
https://www.gog.com/forum/general/chips_challenge_2

The programmer bought the rights to his own game and now sells it exclusively on Steam.
He made sure it is an online to play only title and will not release it DRM-free.

Why do you think that is?

I'll tell you. People like you two thieves. He doesn't want you two to be able to steal his hard work for free.

You two are as clueless as they come. You are why developers want to protect their products at the expense of the law-abiding, why we have to be online to play some of our single-player games and risk not being able to play them during an internet outage.

But just keep making your silly claims that piracy isn't at fault at all for copy-protection...it just makes you look dumber.

You are as clueless as they come. Fear of piracy is the #1 reason most companies refuse to release DRM-free. Why else are they using DRM in the first place, Einstein?

The actual effect of piracy on legitimate sales (and hence on revenue) is not as clear cut as most people might think. In fact, at least in the case of music, there's evidence that piracy can *increase* sales in some cases.

Y'know, if you weren't ready to handle conflicting opinions, why did you come here?
The thread title literally says it's a piracy debate, so one would think you'd be prepared to talk with actual pirates.

Edit: Oh, and before you come after me, as I suspect you shall inevitably do, I already have noticed that LootHunter hasn't been much better in this regard, but come on, now. Have both of you lost the ability to discuss things without immediately resorting to insulting the other dude involved? 'Specially somebody like you who's obviously thought this thing through quite well.

This thread didn't turn into the upvote/downvote war that I expected, but lord a'mighty, you people get heated easily.

From your own link...
"Drawing on a data set of 250,000 albums and 4.8 million downloads from a popular private BitTorrent tracker, he found some interesting effects. The overall results show a modest negative impact on album sales, as music industry executives would expect."

Just because they found a few cases where obscure artists may have benefited from the free publicity, doesn't make it good overall.

So no, read your own propaganda. Overall, piracy is bad for sales. Hence why most publishers use it.

Another classic example of clickbait titles which do not really match the actual story.

I see once again how you come out against me. I see you have nothing to say to PookaMustard and his "all-knowing" claims that anyone who disagrees with him is just wrong...with no evidence except his self-absorbed opinion on the wonders abandonware and piracy have done for the industry.

Seriously Zeo, if you didn't come here to discuss the topic then your comment is just more spam...

To insult people. It's literally the only thing he does on this forum. As soon as he shows up you can pretty much close the thread, unless everyone agrees to ignore him. Otherwise all you've got left is shit flinging. He is by far the worst troll on this forum, and that is saying quite a lot.

Captain Hook always has my vote. I kinda wish we could get him as a villain in a Pirates of the Carribean movie :D

Who are you to call Pooka out on having a self-absorbed opinion when that's all you've shown in this thread so far yourself?

Insulting people in a debate might as well make your "opinions" spam considering it makes people ignore you.
