waffles with bacon
I already won this debate elsewhere, so obviously I should win it here. It's most certainly obviously pancakes, anyone who thinks it's waffles is severely misguided.

apehater: waffles with bacon
no waffling over bacon!

say "YES" to bacon (as long as it is organic fed, pasture/forest + humanely-raised, of course!)

Hunter65536: I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you’re referring to as war between pancakes and waffles is infact war between GNU/Linux or GNU plus linux as I've recently taken to calling it and windows 10. Hence I strongly feel that pizza is better than both pancakes/waffles and all other foods.
what about pizza pancakes?

ya know, a bit of sauce and cheese on top of a pancake dough, topped with syrup

You've been banned from debating.
I'm worried about you relapsing.

jadegiant: I choose waffles. Growing up, I always liked pouring syrup over each square. I especially like them served with Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles
Tapeheads - Roscoe's Chicken 'n' Waffles commercial
I went to the Roscoe's in Los Angeles a while ago. I really need to go back someday when I pass through.

tinyE: No, it's all muffin mix, but we pour it in a pan and cook it as pancakes.

There is actually very little difference between pancake batter and muffin mix TBH.
Huh. Who woulda thunk.

avatar
tinyE: This isn't some crude idea I had.
avatar
zeogold: So you mean you couldn't even be bothered to think up your own idea?
You horrible person.
Plus Betty Crocker went to jail for insider trading, so she's a horrible person too!

...oh wait, that was Martha Stewart. nvm
Waffley versus pancakey? Why not having both?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kFSQu9f39n0
This is a tough one, as I am a lover of all things pancakey (and waffles are basically just a different form of pancake).

But for me crepes (proper ones, thin and slightly crisp) are the best. Savoury or sweet doesn't matter (though I'm more of a sweet kind of guy).
Waffles, while a bit more exciting (you don't really get them as much over here), require special equipment to make. As much as I'd love a waffle iron, I don't think I have space in the kitchen for one more gadget...
French Toast is also delicious, though I wouldn't class it in the same category really; I've always had the savoury version, usually with bacon, sausages and/or eggs.
Drop scones are also delicious.

And to add two new contestants to the debate:
Yorkshire Pudding - Basically pancake batter cooked in the oven so it soufflés up and goes crispy. Usually savoury and served with a roast dinner, but can also be used as a sweet or even had with breakfast (I once had them with lasagne, it was surprisingly delicious)
Mozzarella-in-carrozza - Two slices of french toast with mozzarella melted in the middle. What's not to love?
avatar
nightcraw1er.488: Neither, sausage, egg, bacon, beans, toast, tomatos only breakfast there is!
Blech.
We're throwing you out there to no-man's land next.

leon30: banitsa
What is that?

Hunter65536: Hence I strongly feel that pizza is better than both pancakes/waffles and all other foods.
True, but this is strictly between pancakes/waffles/other related non-savory breakfast foods.

Another one for no-man's land.

adaliabooks: Yorkshire Pudding
I've always wanted to try that.

Good gravy! This changes everything!
.....I was thinking more like traditional Western breakfasts.
And I don't think the Middle East counts as the West.

Oh, that?
Why do you think we were tossing you out in no-man's land?
I wonder how much longer this thread will waffle on,must be a very lonely child to want all this attention.

Probably because I didn't make any comments after that?

But, yes, I will concede that it was probably in bad taste, given that I'd never heard the term before.

EDIT: Oh dear, that'll teach me to read posts fully, before commenting -- I got as far as "Internet joke". I sincerely apologize.
