Well, here we go again.. Every year the same song and dance. I reinstall GW2, make a pot of coffee, and get stuck at character creation for hours trying to come up with fancy names for my characters. It always ends up with a lot of cursing and not making any meaningful progress. Final Fantasy XIV makes it so easy with their name generator. Two clicks and you get a lore appropriate cool name and you're good to go. Naming characters is my weakness. I start sweating nervously when my friend sends me a message asking when we're gonna start a new Icewind Dale playthrough with custom characters.
This may all be a huge exaggeration, but the point is: I'm giving away a copy of S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadow of Chernobyl (one of my personal favorites) to the person who can come up with the best name for my Guild Wars 2 character. I'm too lazy to do this myself, and it's a good opportunity to recruit another soul to the cult of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
I'm thinking I'll make a female sylvari elementalist this time. Yes, the plant-people. Here's some clues from the GW2 wiki to get some ideas:
"Sylvari names, as well as place names in their starting zone Caledon Forest, are generally inspired by Celtic (Irish, Scots Gaelic and Welsh) names. Sylvari do not have surnames, as they're all part of the same "family," though to each other they are more like distant relatives except in special cases."
I'll let the giveaway run sometime into the middle of next week, then I'll pick a winner. You may enter for someone if you wish.
I'm gonna go drive some forklifts now. Have a nice weekend, everyone!
