Darvond: Stadia calls it quits, the Intellivision Amico, NFTs & Metaverse grift, what would you say were the finest follies of the year?
I would say that for me the greatest gaming fail of 2022 is Calisto Protocol, the game was supposed to be the chosen one, the game that would resurrect AAA Dead Spaces-like games, created by some old Dead Space games devs without EA evil fingers meddling with it. In the end, even forgetting the technical issues, it ended up a rather mediocre low quality Dead Space wannabe clone, with a broken combat system definitely not fit for a survival horror game (as in : look a terrifying zombie running toward you, but don't be afraid just move your stick from left to right continuously and you will dodge 100% of its attack unless there is more than one in which case you are dead.), forgettable and annoying characters, abuse of badly timed jump scares, awful level design, at the end it even manage to make Dead Space 3 looks good in comparison, at least in DS3 there was a good game hidden behind all the dumb decisions (i.e. coop, mono-ammo, weapons, etc...)
