As far as the pet thing, the pet owner in me wants to scream. There's a time and place for checking twitter and being a social media personality, and that's not it. The power to walk away from twitter and tend to her pet's health is now/then (I don't really care enough to look deeper into that), not complaining on twitter. I know it's sucky to have a sick pet, I know it adds to stress, but seriously when you have the power to walk away and don't use it, I don't know what to say to you. Sorry, I've had pet problems, those are moments to put the phone down, to step away from the computer and handle it without letting the rest of the world in.

As far as harassment...that, like power on the internet is a rant for another time because work calls.
When you got to choose, but the choices are shit, it's just so much more pleasant to believe you have no choice.
That goes to both sides, since as far I can tell, the AI cyborgs have not arrived yet.

Anyway, it's tragic when anyone defines their life so exclusively on one single overriding thing. It can also be amazing, but more often than not it's just tragic. Law of averages and all that jaz...

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/B320XBWCEAARjSJ.jpg Sooooooooooo, I saw this when I was poking around today. And when I thought about it, I realized that the person made a brilliant point about why you see so many white male protagonists. It's worth a read (and I'll type it up if someone wants cause it might be hard to read).

Yeah, He actually has a really good point.

It's a problem creatively, you have to have characters that can fail, you can't just hold their hand or you don't get anything. It's like life, there is no easy setting, it's all Dark Souls setting. Sometimes you get lucky and have the right conditions for certain things, sometimes you don't, and life doesn't care, it just does.

A character that gets beaten down, hurt, and actually considers failure and running away before not? That would be interesting, so many characters don't even consider failure, they just keep going, and while Link has an excuse in his Triforce, no one else does.

Hell, what about a character who is an alcoholic and actually has to face those demons? I mean, that's hell, that's seriously hell to have to do and it's something that the character has to live with day to day. Failure is something you live with, you just have to get back on the horse and keep struggling afterwards.

But that's the problem, a white male can get away with that, because no one cares what you do to them, no one cares what kind of character they are, but god forbid that same stuff happen to a woman, or a minority. Fuck it would be a more interesting character then 75% of what's out there and it would only be topped by characters with multiple games to their names.

Everyone wants games to be art, but they miss the big point. Art has to be allowed to be offensive, Art has to be able to show people the things they don't want to see.

Struggle of the Pen, Struggle of the Heart

A great little article that I suspect mirrors many of our experiences with gaming. Anyway, the GamerGhazi response was predictably classy ( and [url=http://www.reddit.com/r/GamerGhazi/comments/2o44w1/i_dont_even_know_what_to_make_of_this/cmjllid]two and three).

On the Gallant front, Desura weighed in on the whole "selectively distributing keys thing. His response was, again, predictable, taking his game down from sale on Desura.

The Desura stuff is something of legend, and honestly they're right, not just about this one situation but a lot of it. A lot of these people could have stepped back and probably would have happily vanished from the situation. You don't have to respond to everyone online, and if you do, admit to what you're doing. Gallant was stirring the pot and as a result he got called out for it by people who weren't going to simply listen to him.

OH! Apparently they've been going after Stardock CEO Brad Wardell all fucking night. Just because he told an artist that asked him if there were any openings at Stardock to apply. All because of a comic that Zoe didn't like, that Brad knew nothing about until it was brought up...I really don't know what to say about this anymore.

it all turned into a large, worldwide internet soap opera drama, only without Natalia Marisa Oreiro to make it bearable.

Wait, what happened? I'm confused.

Brad Wardell saw a pornographic comic featuring Zoe and made an effort to publicly invite him to offer a resume to Stardock. I guess Stardock is the kind of place that is into sexual harassment comics.

BZZT! Wrong! The artist asked Brad if Startdock was hiring artists, and Brad said that they were and to apply if he wanted, he specifically said that he knew nothing about the comic until someone else brought it up, and telling someone to apply doesn't mean that the guy would even get the job to begin with. This is basically bitching because someone gave the guy a job application at a time when they were giving them out to artists in general.

I see very little context to anything that was said there, good thing Sterling really isn't a journalist anymore, that could have been terrible for him.

https://twitter.com/draginol/status/539972412780331008 Because I'm awesome and clearly have nothing better to do. But they need to dig up month old tweets.
