Emob78: Part of it is due to the switch that took place about 20 years ago. Once gaming became as big as it did, it stopped being the hobby of a few tech nerds and social retards and became a billion dollar, global social experiment. The casual/mobile gaming stuff is nothing more than catnip for barely conscious service drones masquerading as living beings.

Look at the change in developers. 20-25 years ago, video game developers were stoners who smoked weed, listened to Slayer and barely graduate (or sometimes never went) to college. The were social outcasts and rebels. Now they're buttoned down middle class hipsters with neatly trimmed beards and a total lack of imagination or ingenuity. That same pattern also plays out in music and movies. Anywhere anything creative is being made, it is suffering from being in the wake of talented people who invented entire industries and then moved on to other things.

Mobile gaming, online only casual, dub step, boy bands, endless movie remakes. They are all basically the same thing. Poor, cheaply made vending machine products meant to replace older, valuable products that have long since been sold off or are otherwise unavailable for mass consumption.

LeonardoCornejo: Indeed. Quite a godd analysis. But it would seem saying such things, daring to question the casual, has become sort of a taboo too since our rep goes down if we do. I say this writting a smug smile in the real world since I do not get angry when I get haters for expresing myself anymore, I enjoy that now.
The other sheep don't like it when one of the sheep tries to analyze or critique the herd. Intellectual thought and critical thinking offers contest to what should always be contestable ideas. Without that push back you end up with book burning and political prison camps. The current social justice movement is certainly trending in that direction. Twitter block scripts, forum bans, fines in European courts, etc.

Banality and oppression seem to go hand in hand. Religion is one example. Technology isn't immune either. Innovation, artistic expression, individuality, freedom of speech, they must all be sacrificed on the altar of tolerance.

Who cares about down-repping anyway. As they say, 'you only get flack when you're over the target.' Free your mind and express yourself. Amazes me how SJWs preach that philosophy but in reality do everything they can to destroy it.
Casual gaming is also gaming, don´t be so sensitive to this, I played Candy Crush up to level 200 more or less, a moment where suddenly the game became boring to me (But it gave me tons of fun before), and I even spent in total around 5$ on it, so I am one of the few % of people that ever monetized on F2P games. Recently I also found myself playing Clash Royale with my nephew (online) and to help him in his clan I bought some gems for him and me, around 20$ (10$ for each of us)

Now you can start to throw me stones. haha :D , for me most part of F2P mobile games are like fast food, bad as hell, not healthy at all, but yummy from time to time. I seriously consider SuperCell games a piece of elaborated frustration loop engine machines to get monetization, still are nice games ... in some way... (But I seriously hate Clash of Clans, is boring as hell... Clash Royale is much funnier for me)

Candy Crush is one of the best games I ever played, is LSD pure sugar addiction drug injected directly to the brain with amazing colors and sounds.

After defending these games I will critize them too, the same way Anita says Lets be Critic with the Culture we love, LOL, I have some SJW friends that consider casual gaming so innocent and not pernicious for people, but later caring about women in shorts, tits, guns and butts on games for adults, but after some studios about the dangers of the F2P model been released they became ultra defensive of the casual F2P market. The thing is that is more than demonstrated that the people that monetizes a lot in this games, named the whales, are people with mental disorders related to compulsive behavior in many cases.

There is not a coincidence that most part of the awards, sounds, lights, and audiovisual calls to action in F2P mobile games are similar to THIS. http://www.casinosonline.es/blog/wp-content/uploads/las-m%C3%A1quinas-tragaperras1.jpg

But still I think people and industry should be free to sell what they want, I do believe in pure liberalism, more if it is combined with consumer responsibility and education (Sounds like an Utopia I know), but is utterly funny, and at the same time sad... to find critics of the Pop Culture ranting about Catwoman Ass, to later defend F2P monetization models, similar to find "feminists" that care about Manara Spiderwoman defending Patriarchal Religions.

But nah, is not mobile, you can find jewels on mobile, many, Monument Valley is a Diamond, and recently from the same studio I played Land´s End with Oculus VR Gear on a Samsung and it was for me one of the best experiences I had in gaming in the last 10 years.

I am a high fantasy RPG PC gamer. Mouse and keyboard.

And I should like console gamers to enjoy their immersion; to best enjoyment, yet also love any of us PC gamers to have our love alike.

Sorry to say, meanwhile - to me, there is just gaming. I have a story driven gaming immersion - but if a candy crush fan loves their gaming as much as I - I am pleased.

And you? :-)

Sure... what?

I asked if you are in for an inclusive gaming immersion. I am in for it.

"Casual gaming is also gaming, don´t be so sensitive to this" implies Candy Crush fans must feel a little worse.

I will never play Candy Crush - but think of the fans, you, as fellow gamers. I do think that micro-payment gaming might be quite exploitative, as Dragon Age Inquisition should have been a PC game upon publication date.

I hope I seem not too unkind, because I do rather think so.

Please. I never was "sensitive" to Candy Crush as something "casual." This will never be my gaming immersion, but I imagine it is something as true for those whom love it..

I do not, as such, wish to put you unto spot. But since I love high fantasy RPG, I can understand love of other gaming. I will not seek to categorize it, to make "some" and "others."

Man, I am saying you that your words are true in my ears and reasonable, I am not being ironic.

Gawker Media must pay Hulk Hogan $115 million : http://archive.is/7n4FG

This might be then end of Gawker as we know it, and its sites like Kotaku. So fingers crossed, they land in better hands than with the loons that dragged the company through acid with disregard to law and media ethics.

They'll probably be assimilated into one of the others like Polygon or Gamasutra or ArsTechnica(or is Ars Gawker owned too?) through connections with friends.

Meat cookies...

For a moment, I thought you'd stumbled onto the next big thing... but it's already a thing!

Delicious? Disgusting? Disgustingly delicious?

My second gf and biggest love has been assimilated into "TheMarySue"-community and talking about "women here, sexualisation of female characters there and which guys are hot and which are not, etc..." while having gone from a nice intelligent girl to a slutty bed hopper with 99% fashion interests and a bit obligatory nerd-interest (because it's hip).
It broke my heart but she has become the very stereotype of a brainless hipster in every other way too so... :(

Damn, sorry to hear that. I didn't even know they had discussions there. Have you tried talking to her about the likely false information she came across there?
