catpower1980: Some correction : the title is in fact "La Terza Madre" and was shot in 2007. However, it had a lot of mixed reception amongst the fans because since the middle 90's Argento lost its touch and Italian cinema in general too (due to lack of budget and interest from the public). Watch some excerpts on youtube and make your opinion. Advice: watch Argento's movies up until "The Stendhal Syndrome" included.

mighty.ape.acct: Goes by the title "Mother of Tears" here in NZ. I'm guessing that translates...? By far the worst of the trilogy IMO
"The Third Mother" is the exact translation ;)
The #stopgamergate2014 tag is trending on twitter. The primary strategy seems to be yelling misogynist as loudly as possible in hopes that gamergate will go away.

Because that worked so well with the gamers are dead articles...

Actually, it might work. There's now a heavy pushback against Gamergate, and the new narrative is "it doesn't matter what you actually stand for, people associate you with harassment and (now) terrorist threats, so away with you."

What's funny is that a ISIS-bot somehow picked up that hashtag.

So...Irony?

Yeah, Gamergate is fairly well tainted. Some pro-GamerGate women did speak for them during a Huffington post interview, but it won't be enough.

History would would disagree with you. Consumer movements in the past have been associated with worse by those who resist them.

Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

I hope you're right.

I saw it as "Mater Lachrymarum - The Third Mother." Technically it had a limited release here, though it didn't penetrate much; I saw it in an arthouse screening a couple of years ago. To be honest, I thought it was kind of a tired mess, but I might have been in the wrong mood for it - Argento is not always, or even often, what I feel like watching. On a different day I might have found it absurd but great fun.

I try to ignore twitter, since it's not worth following most people, but that it funny, especially when the ISIS bot got a hold of it.

A shockingly levelheaded article on CNN: http://edition.cnn.com/2014/10/15/living/gamergate-explainer/

But the piece seems to suggest that he received a death threat from a hard line GamersGate supporter who was opposed to him talking of 'extending the olive branch' Yeah, OK he didn't make as big a deal about it as some on the other side but I'd hardly call it a proud moment for the #GamersGate movement...

True. But also, beggars can't be choosers. I'm just glad to see some acknowledgement of the harassment that's been directed at GG suppoters (or even just GG neutrals) outside of articles that clearly support GG.

There was a handful of negative storys in the regular news coincidentally timed with this.

The other news on this is getting more subtle in their reporting like the article from CNN.
On one side are the so-called hardcore gamers, most of them male, who make and play adrenaline-fueled games such as the "Halo" and "Call of Duty" shooter series. On another side are a new wave of gaming enthusiasts, many of them women, who are making and playing games that don't involve a shootout, a chase or sometimes even a quest of any kind.
