Yes, very important since a FOR PROFIT company CROWDFUNDED a project and DID NOT DELIVER. The time period was at least 1.5 years and the schedule was broken before turning non profit.

No reply to #4695 from Mago72? Huh, I guess he can't find that other measuring tape at the moment.

I am busy downloading all the Linux installers, watching HALO 3 Nightfall and configuring my new Linux installation. I have 5 days off from work :).

As for a question for facts - as a grown up academic I am sure you sure can ask by yourself.

The only thing I can pull from my head instantly for theories and rumors: Tale of Tales paid Leigh Alexander for the marketing of the game Sunset as far as I know, not Anita Sarkeesian.

NVM found the rumor:

Elmofongo: Does the voice over of Daniel from Extra Credits and Gaijin Goomba also apply and mind you thats not the real voices of these guys, just some sythisized bullshit to make them sound like 10 year old kids for some reason:
That's slightly better because they're just pitch-shifted up whereas the voiceover people make their voices all ridiculous like that naturally. There's no excuse for using a Ryan-Seacrest-as-a-squirrel voice like in that video. None. Zip. Nada. We as a society must rise up and punish such evils with righteous fury.

So you don't even search for that measuring tape? Noted.

My degree in language tells me at least this: When questionable interpretation, wild conjecture, slander, insinuation and litigable claims are literally put under the capital letter header 'facts', you have no problem with it, but if someone engages in completely normal human speech acts, you'd rather have a heap of superfluous subjectivity signifiers – suggesting uncertainty in an opinon – piled on an otherwise understandable rhetoric.

/edit: You didn't understand that part, obviously, so I'll put it in clearer terms: The telltale "SJW" markers you have invented out of thin air fit Shadowstalker much, much better than me. You'd rather ignore that and move on to, well, other topics. Whatever fits into your convenience bubble, man.

The accurate and factual term for this behaviour is bigotry.

As to my "tactics", hey, I at least didn't come into this thread JAQing off. You probably picked those communicative "strategies" ten years ago from 9/11 truther forums. It's clear enough where your recurring enemy classification terminology comes from.

I don't really have much of an interest in discussing the Tale of Tales twitter thing. If gamergate supporters willingly associate their movement with stupefying conspiracy theories of this baffling 'cerebrum mortem' grandeur, it's an association they will have to live with.

If people think that a two person indie studio with a 90,000$ budget, 40k of which was own capital, has those 40k to put into marketing, they don't understand the present gaming industry. That's their problem, not mine. If people think that the industry secretly hired gaming celebrities as ambassadors for their games in some kind of vastly overblown BTL marketing effort, they don't understand marketing. If people think that game developers lightheartedly reveal implausibly enormous 'bribes' via public twitter accounts while giggling their asses off, they don't have an understanding of the world at large. All that too: Their problem, not mine. And I'm not doing their research for them as well, thank you very much.

Everywhere else on the internet besides in gamergate communities, you show people those tweets, only those tweets, and they understand them.

I am bothered by the likes of Daniel and Goomba making their vocies higher pitch.

Why do they do that, why are they afraid of speaking in their own voice, instead that have to change it to sound like some 10 year old kid :P
avatar
noncompliantgame: The issue's not that they disagree. As you may have noticed it is the fact that they crawl in here and troll this thread - sometimes pages at a time. They bully and harass and disrupt. [...] Another factor is their constant down voting of everyone - which of course continued the whole time of their absence.
avatar
227: The bullying and harassment of others isn't an excuse for our side to be any less classy, though. If we can't argue our points without emotion, then we need to either take a break or consider the possibility that we're wrong in whatever we're arguing (not automatically believing that, of course, but allowing a bit of self-reflection to better understand why we hold that particular opinion and trying to come up with a better way of getting the point across). People who are right don't need to be rude.

And everyone gets downvoted in this thread, including Vaina. No one knows who's doing it, and no one can prove anything, so finger-pointing is ultimately pointless. You may see my stance here as extending an olive branch, but I simply think that our arguments can hold their own weight without the need to make personal judgments against those who may disagree. The only thing that kind of talk accomplishes is sidetracking the entire conversation and undermining our "good guy" credibility.

avatar
YaTEdiGo: And this is the major and most ridiculous point on SWJs, they outrage for scientist pin-ups t-shirts
avatar
227: That kind of outrage being something Vaina agreed was a problem. We should be more careful not to put people into boxes and assume that they fall in lockstep with the party line or we'll alienate absolutely everyone. Supporting GG doesn't make one a woman-hating misogynist with a neckbeard any more than not supporting it makes one a perpetually-outraged fanatic.

avatar
Elmofongo: I want everyone to watch this, this has been talked about since around 2001-3
avatar
227: That voiceover is terrible. It's like they hired the guy who does those lame "top 10 craziest police chases" shows to narrate. When I become emperor of the world, using that kind of a voice will be punishable by death.
I agree - generally speaking. And I'm all for olive branches (I like olives X-D). But seriously, offering the olive branch is great, but it's a bit difficult when they're screaming shitlord. And yes, this thread is sidetracked by anti-gamer trolling. Personally I try not to waste time arguing the same points over and over again with game hating trolls - the question is to know when to ignore and when it might be worth replying. IMO too many pro-gamers here take the bait too often. And we do seem to spend a lot of time just discussing the GOG gamergate forum itself - myself included . It can get very circular, altho on the other hand a certain level of self-consciousness is a good thing .

Goomba does it to avoid being recognized by extremists; since he often talks about culture-related topics. He said so in a video. I don't know why Daniel does it but its not too bad to listen to.

Still pissed about that Spider Woman Cover? You put all this text up just to snap back at me. Sorry even if you claim not be a SJW, your tactics tell otherwise.

You want me now to check each post here in this thread for facts, just because I jumped into this thread where your post was at the end and I asked a question about it and got you with your trousers down?

As for your special "normal" speech act against the other mentioned speech acts, I won't read Searle for you again.

Fight your scratched ego-war somewhere else with someone else.

Yeah, I don't have a problem with playing around with different sounds, but pitch-shifting your voice up a few notes is really lazy. The things you can do with some good hardware is amazing; I have a Voiceworks Plus and you can use it to sound like an entirely different person without ever getting to the point where you sound like you're on helium or related to Darth Vader. There's plenty of stuff out there that can mess with a voice like that, so there's really no excuse for laziness.

It's definitely difficult, but if you're extending an olive branch and being respectful and they're constantly smacking it away, it's safe to say that you're winning by default at that point. I don't think any impartial observer in the history of the internet has ever looked at an internet argument and went, "Wow, that person contributing nothing but bitter insults is making a good point," so trying to remain cool-headed even in those circumstances is a great way to drive home the validity of a point.
Target to remove gender-based labeling.

Gay Pride parade in Muslim area of Sweden called "racist". It's starting to get VERY confusing!

No, vain, such an "expert" in language...
Tale of Tales states on Twitter in very clear language that they paid Anita $40,000 to promote Sunset.
Vain, "in his infinite wisdom", claims we are all conspiracy theorists because we give credibility to actual game developers who state this.
All because Vain, who personally "knows nothing" about the situation just can't believe it can be true; thinks its a lie; or a ploy; or yanking of a chain. Who is the conspiracy theorist? Who is the one making claims out of thin air again?

I say it once again. Vain, you are clueless.

Like I said, you gotta pick and choose who to engage on this thread. Otherwise you're just wasting your valuable time. Particularly with that one. You'll just drive yourself mad attempting any reasonable level of communication there.

This case I'm not so much engaging as setting the record straight for those who may be reading this thread.
And I just double-checked. And can find no where, anywhere or anyone else claiming Tale of Tales is lying. They have not retracted their statement. Nor has Anita commented at all. Don't you think if Anita didn't receive this money, she'd be saying something about it? Do you think loud-mouth Leigh Alexander wouldn't be responding?

They have not come out to claim its a joke. It's actually more than one Tweet as well. One Tweet where they talk about bribing Anita and getting nothing for it and another directed at Leigh Alexander asking her for the $40,000 Anita owes them. Looking at it in context, it sure seems they are serious about it...

I just don't want some distracting troll who has nothing factual to add to derail the point...
