RWarehall: And here the thing...
In truth, I strongly support social justice.
I am glad the Supreme Court wasn't too stubborn and backwards that they saw that too many rights were being denied without legalizing marriage between any two people.
I believe prison sentences are often way too long and costly for victimless crimes like soft drugs.
I believe too many minorities are serving time in US jails because their numbers are just way too unproportional.
I believe there are things that do need some tweaking and fixing in society.
But, my God, what goes for social justice these days is just nuts. It's like they all have "bigger dick" contests over which of them are "better" social activists. They argue over the most trivial of things and over-react before all the facts are even straight. (Don't get me wrong, I believe sometimes some in this thread and elsewhere do the same with regards to Gamergate issues as well at times.)
I think the difference for me and social justice is that social justice has always been about "equality" or the greater good.
If something is wrong, you try to fix it for all, not just fix it for your specific so-called minority group. But too many of these people don't seem to be able to see past their own little "privileged" sub-group. And too many of them think they should be able to swing the scales as far as possible in order to make up for whatever disadvantage they perceive they suffered them. Like they are owed more or something...
no one is really helped IMHO.
