Kempeth: True, they should ban all those pits. But that does not invalidate their choice to start somewhere. "But other places are worse" is the excuse of a 5 year old.
avatar
LiquidOxygen80: And "ban everything that could possibly offend me" is the logic of a five year old. Or a facist. Which are you?
Neither.

There's a difference between silencing a person or group of people and refusing to be a platform for them. If you come to my home and behave in a manner that offends me or my friends I have every right to kick you out. That does not make anyone a facist, a five year old or a user of a cheap fallacy.

Secondly there's also a difference between groups with unpopular opinions and groups that exist only to cause pain to others. Between pationately disagreeing and spewing hatred.

But if your home was parliament? Where all antispeech was advertised to be OK?
And whatever a group says, no one should try to prevent them from saying it. They should systematically debunk the wrong the hate-group is spewing and make them look like fools. Shoot a shooter instead of becoming a shooter.

My home isn't parliament. Reddit most certainly isn't parliament. And if you shoot a shooter you do become a shooter.

Shadowstalker16: Corruption in games journalism since 2004 : http://deepfreeze.it/article.php?a=numbers
I remember someone on this thread stating we don't target big publishers and devs. Then what the fuck is THIS? We do target big ones, when we find the cases. We know corrupt journalism did not begin with indie gaming, corrupt journalism was already there. And indie corruption did not begin with Quinn, many other indies were suspects already, for example Phill Fish, a man by the way.

Look at this pic.

Burden of proof is on us, since some people are more equal than others that their idea of a source can be ''listen and believe'' and still have criticism deflected because critics lack the proof they cherrypicking want.

I found it on Know Your Meme in case you need the source. There is a lot of unbiased information about GamerGate in Know Your Meme. It is sad when a meme dedicated page is less biased than Wikipedia and The Rational Wiki.

Well Rational Wiki was always bad. It's as biased and idiotic as Conservapedia. Disappointed about Wikipedia though.

But yes, Know Your Meme is a good, relatively unbiased view of the situation, though it is missing a few elements here and there. Not many internet controversies last upwards of 10 months.

10 months? Sweet Celestia! What did I got myself into this time? I got involved arround 8 or 7 months ago. in fact AGG kind of pushed me to support GG.

Actually, now that I've counted again, it's actually about 11 months now.

It began in August 28, so let's see:

1. August
2. September
3. October
4. November
5. December
6. January
7. Feburary
8. March
9. April
10. May
11. and now June.

Yeah, we've been going on for a long while now. And goddamn, all I wanted to do was play video games. I'm hoping the redditors that have joined up meant that I can slow down my involvement and go back to being hyped about video games, blissfully ignorant of cultural authoritarians trying to hurt my hobby.

Ah well, a gamer can dream, right?

I wish cultural authoritarians could be ignored, too bad they actually have power and push their agenda and narrative.

I will never forget when Leigh Alexander praised Kim Kardashian's patethic excuse of a game. That is just as bad as praising Depression Quest if not worse.

Yeah I know. Well hopefully by pissing off almost the entirety of reddit, we can further erode their power base. I've taken to simply finding as many alternative sources to media as I possibly could and avoiding traditional sites like the plague. It's pretty much those alternate sites and Youtube for me.

I hope these cultural authoritarians lose their power soon. Jack Thompson was eventually defeated, so these people can too. And then I can simply go back to enjoying my games, like I always frakkin' wanted to.

btw, I haven't posted on GOG's forums very much before. What's the general opinion of GamerGate in these parts?

Honestly I don't know. Some users seem to be quite agressive toward GG, however CDPR and GOG as a whole seems to have taken a neutral stance, I mean, this thread still exists, and I bet GOG knows there would be a bigger shitstorm if this thread was deleted.

Fair. Is the userbase in general pro, neutral or anti? I hope neutral because it's been a long time since any rational discussion of GG has happened. Most of the time places are either overwhelmingly pro (like The Escapist forums) or overwhelmingly anti (like NeoGAF).

Of course, the fact that this thread exists gives me respect for CD Projekt Red. Don't need their support, just their neutrality and pro-consumer stance.

Well, considering how the antis attack CDPR's beloved baby (The Witcher) I am pretty much sure they don't like the antis a litle. But let me warn you, there are people like this guy called Amok and the user with the red star user pic who are apparently anti and very hostile toward pro GG.
