Side note:

Community managers should not actively slander parts of the community that they are managing. IMHO his was a poor hire given his past behavior. This negatively affects CDPR and should be addressed before it snowballs.

CDPR is heading in the wrong direction and this will be the first Witcher game I haven't pre-ordered and this clown of a Priesley only made me confirm it. CDPR: get rid of him and perhaps I'll reconsider.

Remember, CDPR were the ones that put up their middle finger when left-wing critics were bitching about the cards in the first game instead of focusing on the game itself. Now we're 10 years on and it seems they're doing a 180 turn despite their fans asking them not to!

As a long time fan and supporter of the Witcher-series, CD Projekt Red & GoG, I find it abhorrent that an employee of CD Projekt Red would equate gamergate, a consumer revolt against (confirmed!) nepotism, censorship and corruption in games journalism, to an organisation of right-wing, extremist murderers. Whatever you may think of gamergate, I believe that that should be enough of a reason.

I hope CD Projekt Red will take steps to address this, with a retraction and full apology. They are too good of a company to have their name and brand be tied to such an outrageous comparison.

Ironically, Community Managers are actually there to be in touch with the community, feel what they want and stand for and pass it on to the publisher or developer to take into account when making new games. He's being an utter plonker and alienates the fan base by actively attacking them. The fact that he speaks such nonsense show's he's completely out of touch with the community he's supposed to be in touch with - that alone should be a reason to fire his SJW ass.

At this time, GOG should probably rather keep quiet. Gamergate threatens the entire industry except the AAA publishers and developers, my fav publisher should rather sit this one out instead of blowing up the danger the movement poses to anyone but the monopolies.

All they can do now is to make small, innocuous steps to make clear where they do stand.

Steps like following Wil Wheaton on twitter, for example.

What we do have here, plain and simple, is that A Voice for Men, already classified as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center, was trying to shove their agenda into video games under the gamergate hashtag, selling gamergate merchandise while doing nothing but to disrupt panels with a feminist angle. Shouldn't that make y'all really, really mad? Isn't that an abuse of the gamergate name? Isn't this absolutely NOT what gamergate is supposeldy about?

Or would we rather continue the outrage over a community manager who may or may not have assessed gamergate correctly, but has DEFINITELY assessed the group present at Calgary Expo correctly?

Joking aside, this has seriously pissed me off. I've gone to great lengths to support CDPR, including buying everything I can from GoG instead of Steam or other sources, getting every CDPR game made, and telling everyone in my gaming circle about CDPR stuff. I never expected anyone to thank me or send flowers, but being insulted by a CDPR rep (whose job is to represent CDPR to the gaming community) feels like a betrayal of the common ground. It might not be rational response, but I have held CDPR in higher regard than any other gaming company, so it may be expected that I feel more slighted than had it been BioWare or Obsidian.

Oh yes, gamergate really made Valve shit their pants when they introduced the ultimate conflation of publisher and press right at the height of gamergate last year.

The AAA industry loves gamergate, and that's a fact. And you can see why, quite clearly, from those last posts right on this page.
