Maverick89: Community manager for CDPR compares gamergate to the KKK
As a custome of CD Projekt RED and a huge fan of the Witcher series i'm shocked bu these kind of comments.
I hope CDPR will do the right thing and fire or punish these community manager.
Yes, we can see that as a 'comparison'. The tweet in full:

Just heard the GamerGate has a booth at the @Calgaryexpo ? Really? Who next, the KKK? This does NOT promote safety & community to attendees.
And Je-he-sus, he's not wrong in that last part.

The context, for anyone interested, was gamergate's presence at Calgary Expo in the form of the "Honey Badger Brigade" — those are the guys with direct ties to MRA activists. What the HBB did there was to actively disrupt panels until they were eventually evicted from the Expo, screaming censorship. Your basic 8chan activist crap, rather John Birch Society ideologues than KKK...

HBB bought that booth on backer funds. Thank god they're not getting their money back.

/edit: Will reply to some of the posts on the last page later this weekend.

actually they should otherwise its probably theft.

"does not promote safety"
well the presence of SJW does not promote safety either so any of them present should be jettisoned too

502: Chris Priestly was a perfect fit for today's BioWare, and making him a representative of CDPR wasn't the best idea in the world. He just went out and proved it again.
What, that fuck landed a job at CDPR? How... Why!?

It's right there in the expo rules, if you get evicted for breaking the rules you're not getting your money back. That's not theft, that's how the world works.

in that case they better find a clear and serious enough rule break or else i fear lawsuits might be following.

What's the problem? He's just saying you're a danger to society. Plus the KKK is not as bad as the comparisons to ISIS.

Seriously though, piss on this guy. Between this and the Titan Souls rubbish this week I am sick to death of companies allowing these people to represent them on Twitter accounts, crowbarring in their personal beliefs and social politics whenever they can while occasionally remembering to promote the damn game. You know, if there's time.
Shame that GoG employs extremists who would deface and censor their own games. I hope they take responsability and solve this problem quick. Such people have no business in our community. Thank you.

Oh, I see.

Speaking out against gamergate = censoring The Witcher 3.

Leaping to conclusions? Oh no. Because SJW.

comparing to kkk =/= speaking out against

but cruel things, hate and harassment are fine when done against gg right?

I have a truly honest question here.

Obviously this discussion has elevated (or descended I suppose) into sparring platitudes (equations?) and a fair amount of posturing.

I agree that no person should be subject to harassment. Perhaps it would help to talk about the people rather than the movements. SJW and GG are both monikers for amorphous ideologies. What about people? Who has been harassed? Who has been treated cruely? I think we can condemn all the bad-faith actions all around, but surely that isn't the central question. Both sides have hurt the other. Continuing to fight because someone got hurt while they were fighting makes no sense. [you know: bombing for peace].

So this is my question: what are the central questions under contention?

Vainamoinen: those are the guys with direct ties to MRA activists.
I love this part. For some reason feminism is a sacred mandate from the High Heavens, but standing for men's rights is akin to lynching people and holding burning rituals at night. It's like watching nazis rage about communists or vice-versa.

jlddodger: So this is my question: what are the central questions under contention?
Quite simple: GameGate wants true neutrality in treatment of games and their reporting. This means reporters need to stay as unbiased as they can, developers should be free to create content to please market demands and every bias should out in the open. I would still go further than that and also demand ethical practices from games developers and publishers, i.e. stopping with the DLC and DRM crap. But let's keep it to one goal at a time.

The other side? Well, if you are disagreeing with my proposal you are either insane or a profiteer. Here is the question you should ask yourself when someone accuses GamerGate of being a hate group: why? Why would anyone be against more games, more gamers, more diversity, more anything? Why would anyone go around harassing people on the internet? What would be in it for these people? Sure, there will always be trolls who do it for the lulz, but how many people who stand for GamerGate could be trolls? Now on the other hand, I think it is very self-evident how someone could profit from corruption and why they would do whatever they can to discredit any criticism.

People can have all the opinions they want. They don't have the right to link themselves to their employers. I don't want my favourite gaming store tainted by the far left and their minions. It is unacceptable.

Klumpen0815: Quite a long list, doxxing seems to be quite popular in the social injustice warrior and misandrist camp.
avatar
Vainamoinen: It's popular EVERYWHERE. And I hate it every time it happens, on either side and in either situation. I'm telling you this in good faith, people are trying to pin "truegendering" ('uber doxxing') on gg supporters right now, and I haven't joined in the pinning because I don't see sufficient indication of this being wide spread enough to warrant being called out as "something gaters do".

A lot of things need to stop, doxxing and swatting first and foremost. There's no disagreement here, and also no opportunity to make one side look worse.
Now that we've agreed on something lets takes a tea break then build from there.

I think you mean authoritarian left as opposed to the liberal left.

I wouldn't be so sure that this doesn't reflect CD Projekt's opinions, if I were you.

Also "minions"? Really?
The KKK?

REALLY!?

THE FUCKING KKK!!??

You know I actually defended CDPR against the backlash from the expansion pass announcement. Boy do I feel silly now.

Reeeeeally thinking of cancelling whatever preorders I can over this. I've got both W3 and the expansion pass preordered on both GOG and Steam because I thought that CDPR deserved a double dip (one for achievements and the steam community, one for DRM free).

But if you are going to blatantly attack your audience like this then I can't continue to support you.
