ScotchMonkey: Not exactly prescient, though quite observant and on the level.
Let's be very clear. The issues with gaming 'journalism' and their ideological root causes are obviously much broader than just gaming and many saw it coming. The antiGG crowd does a lot of careful positioning to distract from that elephant. They're often very successfull, because such bad faith is quite aggravating to those being targeted. Funnily enough, I'd say the ostracism threat (well... it's reality even) is not something the most vocal GG folks care about outwardly, in a very 'aspie' way the truth is more important.
Anyway back OT, or kind of ;) looking at any political journalism shows numerous examples of how objectivity is hindered by mission journalism (afflict comfortable, comfort afflicted). Specifically on entertainment, there's likewise numerous areas where SJWs have over the past 10 to 5 years carried their march through the institutions, from comics, via toys like Lego, to SciFi (this latest is just in the news even due some effective pushback). More specifically on gaming, videogames are more susceptible to such influences - cos video, therefore narrative - yet I've noticed an increasing influence on boardgames, mostly very mild since thematic critique is rather the only accessible battleground there.
