From the content producer side I really hope not. They really don't have anything to do with this. From the reporters though, I really hope it makes them take their job more seriously and stop acting like an extended marketing department.

There's no need to choose any sides here, people should look at it as objectively as possible and always take the real motives of everyone involved into consideration and especcially how much proof is delivered with every claim and atm the anti-gg side is mostly using PR skills and connections, massive denouncing and lots of claims without any proof whatsoever. This is not a conspiracy theory anymore because it has been proven over and over again.
That feminists are used for this is just as bad as seeing neo-feminists using it for their own morally questionable goals.

Like every attack on the media in the past It has become a clusterfuck that is obviously meant to confuse in order to move the focus away from not so nice facts.
I'd bet, it's everywhere in this industry, because it's about massive flaws that are nearly in every corner of it by now.

Well some seem persuaded that "being progressive" means "insult everybody of the wrong color, gender, sexual orientation and consider that it's ok as long as you can slap the "privileged" tag on them", so I wouldn't be surprised if some also have a very personal definition of "rational" ;-)

Sure, gamergate has diverse ideological currents. Gamergate 'has diversity'. I'm seeing plenty of influences there, from the submissive consumer, the conspiracy theorist, the US centric Republican and other political extremists to the MRA or actual misogynist. Sometimes the currents mix, sometimes they don't. It happens, on both sides. Among feminism itself, among pro-diversity voices.

As to the Wa/Wu incident, look up Katherine Cross' statements on the matter. They mostly reflect mine.

Still, when e.g. John Bain argues against the nonsensical SJW conspiracy theory, he's getting conveniently ignored. The SJW enemy concept is still at the center, and the core process is and always was to burn a witch at the stake first, making up evidence of witchcraft afterwards. The mob controls the movement. Does and always has. Recent Tim Schafer crucifixation, ample proof again.

Gamergate "allows neutrality" by declaring extreme pro-gamergate voices as neutral, placing them outside of the conflict when these opportunist voices have spared no expense whatsoever to set themselves right in the center. That is true for just about any popular gater figure and websites, supposedly all 'not-a-gater's. These last 107 pages have shown extreme and continuous proof of this kind of self-deception.

I tried for a few months, even inviting those who consider themselves anti-GG to show me things from their point of view that I could add to my timeline to balance it out a bit (before I burned out and stopped updating). To date, I've received exactly zero emails from anyone on that side, while pro-GG people were actually the ones to point out one or two inaccuracies despite the fact that correcting those mistakes made them look less good.

The most enlightening thing for a new person unsure of where they fall in the discussion would be to visit this topic on a Gamergate supporting part of Reddit (link) and read through people's responses to get a feeling for how GG views their opposition, then read one the many, many, many anti-GG articles that claim that the whole thing is a cover for sexist, racist ISIS-like organization made up exclusively of almost-literally-Hiltlers for the purposes of raining hell down on anything and everything suspected to be a female. After that, you should have a pretty good idea of where you stand.

(That was a little hyperbolic, maybe, but a lot of fun to write nevertheless.)
