Don't feel too bad, there were some puzzles that I consulted UHS for (and didn't feel bad about it afterwards because some of them were borderline nonsensical).
There's also a 7 layer upside down tower of hanoi puzzle right near the end. Normally I find tower of hanoi easy because there's a clear system to it, adding more layers makes it longer rather than harder. However, in this instance it's top down with the top layers being biggest and the bottom layers smallest. I found it a lot more difficult when I couldn't see/remember where some of the pieces were buried. Very frustrating!

Hi, I played a few first person adventure games that were interesting and i recommend a lot like:

Salammbô Battle for Cartago, of Cyro
I like the story, the graphics and the art-style.

Jack the Ripper, of Galilea
Very linear but interesting story and very good songs.

Return to Mysterious Island I & II, of Kheops
A relaxing tour for an island plenty of puzles with variety of solving. Good graphics and interludes.

Atlantis III, of Cyro
I played only the third chapter of this saga but i enjoy the puzles, mini games, all the gameplay.

Morpheus
Good fmv with more variety of locations to be a game that is developed on a boat.

At the moment only this five, i started traitor´s gate but i didn´t like, but the backlog is in crescendo, :)

Ah, and Gadget: Past as Future, an horrible game in my opinion, i didn´t understand nothing in a "gameplay" with no puzles and linear 100%. Only good graphics.

So, thoughts on Obduction? I'm between Riven and Obduction for my next first person adventure game.

I see the last two are already mentioned in the long posts from rgnrk but I think no one had mentioned the good Tormentum yet. I am in the hope for more of that.

I've honestly never been into these, which is weird since I prefer first-person for every other genre. I guess it's just because they tended to be more "mature" back when I was getting into the genre as a kid, and I wanted more funny stuff like Lucasarts was doing.

Exactly as SirPrimalform said. If you have LOTS of time and patience give Riven a shot. I had played it back then, but still remember how hard it is believe me. Unfortunately, I haven't tried Obduction yet :/

Haha, you're the exact opposite of me. I prefer first person in adventure games only since in all other genres it causes me nausea!

I tend to alternate first-person and third-person adventures. The one first-person game I played since Reah was Safecracker by Kheops Studio.

I quite enjoyed it... it kind of felt like a better attempt at the 7th Guest style of gameplay (the majority of the puzzles in Safecracker are self contained, but fairer and more interesting).

Nice one! One of the puzzle-y ones I enjoyed a lot.

I have both the original & remake in physical versions. I remember the original had an overall time limit to complete. Then I discovered by chance that the time was written as plain text in the save files. You can figure out what happened next (hehehe).

Just in case it didn't come across, I do highly recommend Riven. I think it's probably the best game in the sub-genre as far as I'm concerned, so I hope you get to it at some point.

Oh, yeah, I'm well aware. Just in the mood for something more "casual", as you put it.

Obduction is a good game, I consider it a bit of a return to form for Cyan following the lacklustre Myst V. It's only casual in comparison to Riven and certainly not a walking sim (as some accused it of being). It can't be a walking sim if there are puzzles to get stuck on. :P

Well, my statement was not entirely correct. The one you played was more of a spiritual successor to the original rather than a remake and it was made by a different team. They kept the same concept but changed the whole setting (new mansion and goal). So, if your OCD is like mine, you might be tempted to also try the original if you can get your hands on it :)
