In our first GOG 2022 update article, among many things we plan this year, we’ve mentioned we’ll keep on working to make the GOG GALAXY client more dynamic and interesting for users. Today we’d like to invite you to help us test the first update out of many, that we hope will help us achieve this goal.

With the Proteus update, you can feel like at home with the introduction of a new, experimental feature: customising the “Recent” view to your needs. Now you can add or remove widgets and move them around to your liking, and create a completely personalised experience that is tailor fit for you.

To get access to this update, first you need to go to your settings, enter the “General” section and tick the “Experimental features and updates” box.

It’s the first batch of the client customization options we have planned, so let us know how you like it!

To make it easier for you to share your opinions, and for us to listen and gather your comments about the features we’re testing, we’re introducing the experimental features feedback form. It will automatically show up triggered by actions you make in the client.

Once we test the performance of the new feature, gather feedback from you and apply needed fixes, we will release the Proteus update to all GOG GALAXY users.

It's amazing how THAT was possible 12 years ago, but it is not possible today for some reason.

That little DRM free shop itch.io has a Linux app but apparently it's too hard for GOG to make one.

The good news for Linux users is nothing is gated with online only features ^^

Well, the user made collections are already available via bookmarking the list of titles you desire using different filters.
What I mean is the freely reorder of the library icons to create custom views, not necessarily definitive ones. Just the order.

Okay GOG, I will try it again since you "seem" to listen to feedback right now.

I have one tiny feature request since Galaxy 2.0 has been released (you should already have some tickets for this as well). Please make it possible to hide and tag games per platform.

Is this really so hard? I could not care less about customizing or other bells and whistles. I just want this tiny basic feature (technically right now your filter system is broken since it hides games I never wanted to hide). The selling point of this client is apparently the integration feature but without the option to hide and tag gaames per platform I cannot use it the way I'd like to use it.

Oh and if you really should read this: automatically downloading any DLC without letting the user decide which one he wants to install or not is also buggy ... but yes, go ahead and do some optical updates instead of fixing basic standards like those I mentioned.

It has been possible for a very long time. Click on a game, then on the third tab (I don't remember its name but it's after achievements). On this page you will be able to download offline installers. But you have to do it manually for every game and after every update.

Was this ever possible in Galaxy? Right now it is still possible on the website if you use Adalia Fundamentals script.

I'll try it out when I get home tonight, but the biggest feature I'd like is the option to sort games by purchase date (or 'date added to library' or whatever) rather than release date. The website library already has this option, but it doesn't seem to be there in Galaxy for some reason.

quite confusinly, it's in "extras" under the "extras" if present. If there is more than one installer (for example different languages or operating systems) one must be careful to select the desired one.

yes, what I mean is seeing the collection ordered on the shelves and be able to move them around. I use tags already, mainly to mark completed or unfinished games, yes it's different. :)

This is good news. Most gog users use gog galaxy. They have attracted many users from other platforms. Still I will continue to download offline installers but gog galaxy support seems perfect to me. gog is listening to users: no drm, offline installers and gog galaxy development, it's fantastic. I wish there was linux support.

Galaxy is still a mess!
You have steam, epic etc along with GoG in your games and when you apply filters to show “only GoG”-“installed games” then click to view a game - that’s installed- then click back it rests the whole thing again. Shows every game from all platforms. It should honestly be like steam, because it works. The default interface for GoG Galaxy is terrible and archaic.
Having multiple “shelves” to put games into categories- like steam is what you need when you have over 400-500 games in GoG. Even the default webpage to GoG - before Galaxy was ever released works better! Installers are there instantly without faffing about. Same for forums. Clicking buttons to apply genres, types is soooo ancient. Make shelves that we can have “point and click” on. Then “simulations” etc.
The next huge issue is I no longer connect steam,epic to my GoG galaxy, yet it STILL keeps a list of all the games on those platforms in GoG. That’s wrong! I want to *remove* those platforms from Galaxy completely and for it to ONLY show GoG games and nothing else. There’s nothing in Galaxy do reset or delete steam,epic. Just a “reconnect” button. Wrong,wrong and wrong.
Tidy it up!
“Recently played” is a tiny silly postage stamp icon of games atop the screen. I want a full screen presentation-default not have to keep resetting it every time to display what I want it to display.
