I don't anticipate this thread lasting long, but I am curious and decided to given into my curiosity to ask a simple question:

Are we in the end times? What makes you think we are or are not?

See I have a trauma of sorts when it comes to this, when I was young, about 7 or 8 A video was shown at my school that detailed the end times as prophesied by Revelations, and it left its mark on me and a few other students as well, sadly many of the school staff had very poor reactions to this and simple told me "to have more faith" now I still retain my faith and still consider myself Christian. I can share more if you like.

But I wonder what the atheists, fellow Christians or other people on GOG think.

Man, I had so many jokes I wanted to post, but then I changed my mind.

Does it really matter, if the end of times is near? People believe in these prophecies since the beginnings of humanity. And still, after thousands of years, we are here and fear the end of times.

So, the only question that matters is: Do you live in fear or do you live without fear?

Depends, somedays I get fearful, some I am fine, I have been wrestling with it for years. I try not too, but I was more curious to see what people thought, thank you for your contribution.
We live in dangerous times. Our population growth times our growth of consumption times the way we produce those goods and transport ourselves, creates a great hazard to the ecosphere. Not only is our climate warming up, but biodiversity is degrading, we live in the sixth mass extinction period due to our impact on it, arable land is eroding, forest are being cut and burnt down to make way for agriculture, which has been going on for millennia but it gets alarming how little CO2 buffer due to forests is left, the warming of the earth can reach tipping points, like when methane from permafrost and from the northern seabed releases due to melting ice.

We need to act, we started acting, yet in so many ways we still continue in the old ways of putting economy before ecology instead of the other way around and ecological disaster might well end in an enormous die-off of humanity, to the point of humanity being greatly reduced in number some time this century or in the coming centuries, or going extinct even. So yes, it's possible were going through some sort of end times, but like with all extinctions, if species go extinct, other species will evolve to fill in the gaps and ecological niches left open. And part of me hopes humanity goes extinct, for all the damage we do to the earth.

Or anything else for that matter :D

You probably didn't intend it, but it's probably the funniest line you could have opened this thread with.

Anyway, I recommend the Good Omens (either the book or the tv series will do) as a good antidote for any messed up christian movies about the end of the world.

It was actually intended. :)
Maintaining a sense of humor about potentially disastrous threads is important.

Considering that time is just a concept, I doubt it.

2. No Conspiracy theories.
These are such contradictory statements. Well, that is what political correctness does - let us pretend we discuss something, but we actually better not.
Given the guidelines/rules of this thread, all I can say is maybe. You basically need conspiracy theories and religion to make this discussion fun at all, without that, it's just as bland as Marvel and Star Wars under Disney.
The end has been said to be imminent countless of times for thousands of years. Each time the signs were clear. Each times the end had better things to do.

Try living in 14th century Europe when a mysterious unstoppable disease wiped out half the population. They at least had a reason for panic and still the world didn't end.
We on the other hand are only suffering from too much news.

Wishmaster777 and DadJoke007 is right, it would lead to non discussion.
Then in the sake of discussion I retract the rules.

Proceed Gentlemen.

Come on, everyone knows that time is a flat circle. Which means this thread will be created over and over again forever. Source : True Detective.

There was no weekend sale on GoG and this is clearly a sign, that the end is nigh!!!!
Or maybe another insomnia sale, but that`s nearly the same.
It is written:"...and then came the day, when nobody wanted to buy a copy of Jack Keane, and they realized that the end was nigh!".
Book of unwritten games, chapter 5.
And then racism reared it's ugly head.

Wishmaster, you've been warned about this before.
Please try leave your Antisemitism at the door before you come in here.
