Why? They work by trying to collect all kinds of well done photos for companies to use for a small fee. Calling a professional photographer and ask them to go out and take some suitable pictures will cost them manyfold, especially if they want the pictures fast.

Good point, but they could provide lesser quality versions of SOME images for free to be nice to those who might want them...or release very old images to the public(as the same or even lesser quality). That way companies could make money from those who want the best quality versions and over a good period of time and others could also be happy.

Also as for cost: Does digital photography(beyond initial equipment costs) cost that much when averaged over time?

Yes, lower quality instead of watermarks sounds good too.

Time, it is the photographer's time that costs and also a camera is not exactly cheap and digital cameras seem to break easily (all that electronics) but it is still only maybe $1500.

It's nice to agree on things.

To the second bit: As I said, the initial investment is a bit high but it can and will average out over time.....also yes their times in valuable, but it's not hard(imo) to take a somewhat decent photo of stationary objects in good lighting conditions....just my two cents.

TT_TT_TT_TT: Unblockable Ads? I'm still not getting any ads at all with Ublock Origin on Chrome
I get the pre-roll ad(s) they're mentioning even while using UBO.

Twitch sure knows its audience though - in the past week alone I've seen ads for "WOW, COOL" PUBG digital clothes and lite beer. I guess it makes sense though - I'd need to be drunk on the cheap stuff to buy clothes in a game I'll likely never play.

GameRager: Can you mute it? If so simply do so and browse while you wait or do stuff irl to pass the time......problem solved(mostly). :)
Nah, if I have to wait a minute before I can check out what's going on the stream, I've already lost interest. And I certainly don't want to wait over and over again when the stream craps out and I refresh.

No offense but if you lose interest that quickly you should work on your attention span/etc....just a bit of criticism.

Heck, I sometimes let full minute to two minute ads play for those on YT In support so they can get the ad revenue. I just watch other stuff while I wait or make something to eat/etc.

i dont get them at all (and i basically have/can see all 3 kinds of behaviours having a pc with the full adblock, a mobile with a "light" adblock and a tablet without any adblock). Maybe has to do with the lists i'm using. I use a lot of the optional lists and also lists tailored to Germany (so maybe the german lists are either way more detailed or twitch to lazy to circumvent ADblock for German users?)

Eh, I've got more important & productive things to do in my life than watch or wait for ads just to be able to check if there's anything interesting going on a stream. I also have an infinite supply of other things to watch that do not require me to waste time on ads.

It's got nothing to do with attention span.

Life is short, and I value what's left of it accordingly.

It does if you sit there and wait for such to finish and get bored after a minute.

Also I said one can go do other stuff(online or IRL) while they wait.....you make it sound as if they have a gun to one's head and you cannot look away while the ad is playing. :\

A good stance to have....+1

Nah, the ad is injected into the stream feed. No idea how you aren't getting any of them. One can't even avoid them when watching outside of Twitch which always used to work.

Like I said, it's not boredom, it's that I'm not interested in wasting my time on such a thing.

Well that's what I do, except that I just focus on that other stuff and won't come back to see if the ad ended. I just close the tab.

It's not wasting time if you do other things while you wait....this is the point I am trying to make here. ;)

=========

So are you saying you basically give up on some things because you can't wait a minute?

To me that kind of behavior is less wanting to save time and more due to impatience....just my two cents(and I mean that on anyone who feels the same, not just you).

Don't think it's any script. It's probably something deeper in your connection.

There are also other factors. I'm never watching on Twitch but during the day I get a lot of ads all the time. However, during the night, it's pretty much never the case. No idea why.
