Riot in the streets. Demand they stop the ban on water. If someone says they've never heard of it, explain it's because they don't want people to know. If anybody disagrees with you, accuse them of working for the establishment. See how many people you can get to join in. 5 points for every picketer, 10 for every block marched with at least 3 people, and 25 points if a passerby records it. If somebody gets wise and realizes there's no ban, 15 points if you can convince them that it's because the movement worked.

zeogold: To answer your questions seriously: There is no real criteria that we know of. They apparently have some sort of curation process, but this has led to multiple games being rejected that many of us would love in favor of titles which, to us, look nowhere near as good, which has angered many (hence the "too niche" joke - GOG's canned rejection response is "we feel this game is too niche to appeal to our userbase" or something similar). Nobody's really sure exactly what they use to determine what gets the boot and what doesn't. My personal guess is that they're trying to appeal to some market which we aren't aware of (remember that the forum is a VERY small percentage of the userbase, and is in no way indicative of what most of GOG's users want). The publisher decides the discounts, not the store. We had an incident sometime back where Amanita Design released Botanicula here with a launch discount while it was at the $1 (or some other low tier) on Humble Bundle at the same time. People were not happy, to say the least. To be fair, this is the only place where you can find such a wide assortment of quality DRM-free games. I got ninja'd by a TREE?
I know my reflexes are slow, but c'mon...
If I know GOG, the curation process involves a lot of beer, a dart board, and some cards with potential games to sell here.

I imagine they've taken inspiration from the Danish town of Svaneke, and use the chicken shitting algorithm.

Better in hobby than in health. :)

Seemannsdaemlack: So, was Tales not accepted because it shouldn't cross with the release of Daedalics Silence or do the costumers really want more mediocre plattformers?
Or because developers refused to GOG terms. Or to provide support. Or GOG adventures base are fine an now and market study says that GOG needs more platformers ASAP? Or something else - who knows where problem emerged?

Seemannsdaemlack: And why isn't here a nice 90% discount for the whole Daedalic bundle like on steam? I would've bought that within a second.
Because it is publishers and developers decide cost and discounts, not shops.

Seemannsdaemlack: ...
So if your problem with GOG is that GOG released some game you don't like, and/or you don't like their pricing, the easiest solution is to vote with your wallet, ie. don't buy such games.

That has worked for me so far and my stress levels are quite low. I can kinda understand the wish of GOG releasing some game so that you can buy it from your preferred service/store... but if GOG feels there is not enough money to be made by selling it, oh well, their business, their choice.

Guys! GUYS! ONE OF 'EM WOKE UP! GET THE DART GUNS, QUICK!
From that title I expected anything but a rant about the usual rejected indie..

Seemannsdaemlack: ...I really expected that the point-and-click adventure Tales (published by screen 7 and developed by Ape Marina) was not accepted by the staff. but we got another jump'n'run here this week, which doesn't look really good too. imho.

So, was Tales not accepted because it shouldn't cross with the release of Daedalics Silence or do the costumers really want more mediocre plattformers?
What are the criteria for releasing games on GOG?
And why isn't here a nice 90% discount for the whole Daedalic bundle like on steam? I would've bought that within a second....
- A game you would have liked is not here (that hurts)
- A game you don't like is here (that doesn't really hurt)
- You don't know the criteria for releasing games (I guess GOG is looking for potential profit and may sometimes err)
- Some games here are cheaper on Steam (well that happens)

I'm sorry for you but what about the other >1,000 games here on GOG? Don't they deserve some attention too?

Wouldn't it be unfair to reject the whole plattform just because of 2-3 games not being sold under the right conditions?

Missed chance GOG, I would say.
People buy games, then proceed to not play them. Steam bundles require you to rebuy the whole bundle. GOG bundles do not and never did.

On Steam, if you're familiar with Daedalic, you're likely to have repeats and you're likely to have already bought the games you're actively interested in, so the effective discount is actually less than 90%, and it makes you buy games you previously passed over (yay free money for the dev).

If you're not familiar with them, you're not going to buy all the games at once at full price, so a massive discount entices you into buying more games than you will play if you only want a couple. Again, the company makes more money off you and rewards you with games which are free for them to give away.
Finally, almost-giving away games on Steam can result in more automated promotion from the platform and more sales and more money.

If GOG had a 90% off Daedalic bundle, it would have amounted to allowing existing fans -- those who are most likely to buy the new game at full or close to full price -- to get it at 90% off instead. This makes no sense and is proportionally a huge financial loss for the company.

Starmaker: Steam bundles require you to rebuy the whole bundle.
Since recent changes, that is not always the case.
