"The most common symptoms of COVID-19 are fever, tiredness, and dry cough. Some patients may have aches and pains, nasal congestion, runny nose, sore throat or diarrhea. These symptoms are usually mild and begin gradually. Some people become infected but don’t develop any symptoms and don't feel unwell. Most people (about 80%) recover from the disease without needing special treatment. Around 1 out of every 6 people who gets COVID-19 becomes seriously ill and develops difficulty breathing. Older people, and those with underlying medical problems like high blood pressure, heart problems or diabetes, are more likely to develop serious illness. People with fever, cough and difficulty breathing should seek medical attention."

Now, with that said, what symptoms clue the regular person in to the fact that they indeed have COVID-19? Well, the sad fact is (excerpt and link below):
"The symptoms are common ones when it comes to respiratory diseases. In addition to COVID-19, they can suggest a far more typical illness such as influenza or the common cold. Some of those who contract the virus may never display any symptoms, and may pass it on to others without realizing they ever had it.
This makes it virtually impossible for the average person to determine whether their symptoms are being caused by the new coronavirus or something else."

Most of the symptoms of COVID-19 are shared with the flu -- only differing sometimes in duration and severity (cough and temperature included).
Here are the symptoms of INFLUENZA:
https://www.webmd.com/cold-and-flu/adult-flu-symptoms#1
Fever above 100 F
Severe aches in your muscles and joints
Weakness or severe fatigue
Warm, flushed skin and red, watery eyes
Chills
A headache
A dry cough
A sore throat and runny nose
Adults with seasonal flu don’t usually have stomach problems like vomiting or diarrhea, but children sometimes do.
Get medical help right away if you have:
Trouble breathing or shortness of breath
Pain or pressure in your chest or belly
Sudden dizziness
Confusion
Severe vomiting
These symptoms can mean your illness is severe
IMO most people won't be able to distinguish a true difference in symptoms between COVID-19 and the yearly flu, but I have noticed anecdotally that many this year have complained about a "strange" flu that was more severe than usual took much longer to clear. This could mean a particularly bad flu season or possibly COVID-19 -- although we wouldn't know definitively without antibody testing.
